Position: HR Generalist
Location: Downtown Toronto (Hybrid 3 days a week)
Job Type: 4-month contract - possibility of extension and/or conversion
We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team in a unionized environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing various human resources functions, with a specific focus on labor relations, HR relations, employee relations, and HR data management.
What You\'ll Do:
Labor Relations:
- Act as a liaison between management and union representatives.
- Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements.
- Participate in collective bargaining negotiations and contract administration.
- Address and resolve grievances in accordance with established procedures.
- Provide guidance on labor law compliance.
Employee Relations:
- Foster positive employee relations by promoting open communication.
- Investigate and resolve employee concerns and conflicts.
- Mediate disputes and provide guidance on conflict resolution.
- Collaborate with management to address disciplinary issues in compliance with union agreements.
Compliance and Policy Implementation:
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and union contracts.
- Implement HR policies and procedures in alignment with union requirements.
- Stay informed about changes in labor laws and update policies accordingly.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with union agreements.
Conflict Resolution:
- Mediate and resolve conflicts between employees and/or between employees and management.
- Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on conflict resolution strategies.
- Work proactively to identify potential sources of conflict and address them promptly.
Policy Implementation and Compliance:
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures in alignment with union agreements.
- Stay current on labor laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with legal counsel as needed to address complex employee relations issues.
Communication:
- Facilitate communication between management and union members.
- Contribute to the development of communication strategies.
- Organize and participate in employee meetings and forums.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor\'s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- CHRP or CHRL
- At least 4 years of HR experience in a unionized environment.
- Thorough understanding of labor laws and regulations.
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment
- Strong negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Dayforce HRIS experience
