Role Summary

We\xe2\x80\x99re a market leader in the fast-moving consumer goods industry, and we\xe2\x80\x99re seeking a confident, highly motivated HR Generalist & Payroll Specialist to join our team in Richmond Hill. The HR Generalist & Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the overall administration and coordination of all HR related activities at SRP \xe2\x80\x93 Canada, including Payroll & HRMS administration, employee relations, talent acquisition and management, training & development, compensation & benefits, awards program management, health & safety and more. Please note: 70% of this role is comprised of HR functions while 30% of this role entails Payroll.

Main Responsibilities of our HR Generalist & Payroll Specialist

70% HR:
  • Provide day-to-day HR support for our Canadian employee base by executing the operational aspects of HR including: system updates & record management, benefits program & service award administration, onboarding & offboarding, etc.
  • Maintain knowledge of current best practices and trends in human resources, including relevant legislation, to develop HR practices, policies, and structures that support business objectives
  • Deliver key HR programs including talent assessment & succession planning, performance management, total compensation, benefits, talent acquisition & onboarding, employee engagement, etc.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment and selection activities including new hire orientations; assist managers where needed to successfully onboard new employees
  • Develop and coordinate employee performance and appraisal programs; support the effective management of employee relations issues and provide coaching and mentoring to members of the management team and other key talent when needed
  • Organize team-building and/or events to drive employee engagement; partner with leadership team for an engaged workforce
  • Provide strategic advice and insights to leadership team to effectively build the organizational capability required to achieve business goals; build KPIs and generate routine or ad hoc reports for management to enable decision making
  • Oversee employee health & safety training including active participation on the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC)
  • Participate in HR projects and/or other HR related functions when necessary
30% Payroll:
  • Complete Canadian payroll on a bi-weekly basis (ADP); liaise with managers regarding employee sick days, vacations, leaves, etc. as it pertains to pay periods
Experience Requirements of our HR Generalist & Payroll Specialist
  • University degree in Business Administration, Commerce or Human Resources Management; CHRP or CHRL designation an asset
  • 3-5 years of relevant HR Generalist experience across a multitude of areas (talent acquisition & management, succession planning, employee relations, compensation & benefits, health & safety, etc.); work experience in a DSD (Direct Store Delivery) environment a strong asset
  • Bilingualism (French / English) is a strong asset
  • Sound knowledge of Canadian employment-related legislation and current professional standards, best practices, and protocols in human resources
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong, trusting relationships at all levels, as well as influence and coach within the organization
  • Well-developed analytical skills, with initiative to provide advice and suggest appropriate solutions and/or improvements, with the ability to understand stakeholder needs and identify suitable approaches to resolve various challenges
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing and/or concurrent priorities
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive situations with strong judgment and discretion
  • A customer service mindset to operate as a value-added partner to offer solutions; demonstrated ability to remain objective, resilient, and flexible in order to manage employee matters
  • An ability to wear multiple hats and perform well under pressure, with a confident, go-getter personality; willingness to take initiative while making and implementing suggestions / solutions
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Office Suite with a working proficiency with HRMS applications; willingness and ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing environment and technology
