About the Role:
Tropicana is embarking on a transformative chapter focused on growth, clarity and culture. The HR Generalist & Payroll Administrator will bridge the gap between HR Strategy and operational execution, managing the full employee lifecycle, assisting payroll administration and driving positive employee experience. Reporting to the Manager, People & Culture, this role plays a key role in supporting our employees and ensuring the integrity of our people systems. You will assist payroll administration with accuracy and care, support HR operations from recruitment & onboarding to engagement and retention

Key Responsibilities:
HR Operations (70%)
Employee Lifecycle & Engagement
Partner with managers to co-ordinate recruitment logistics (job postings, interviews and offer administration), onboarding and offboarding through BambooHR, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment
Partner with Manager, People & Culture to ensure effective probation, performance and development processes
Support employee engagement initiatives/activities; wellness programs, team culture-building activities that align with our One Tropicana vision
Act as the first point of contact for HR-related questions and provide guidance on policies, benefits and employment standards
Support employee relations with empathy, fairness and confidentiality
Assist in updating HR policies and employee handbooks to ensure compliance with ESA standards
Administer employee benefits plans and respond to related inquiries
Track leaves of absences, vacations and other entitlements
Support occupational health and safety initiatives and maintain compliance with safety legislation standards.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, IT and other teams to enhance HR service delivery
Continuously review HR workflows and recommend process improvement initiatives to streamline HR and payroll functions (between BambooHR and ADP)
Payroll Administration (30%)
Validate timesheets, onboarding and off-boarding paperwork with precision and confidentiality
Partner with Finance to reconcile payroll data, track labor costs by program/grant and support audits and funding reports
Maintain payroll and benefits records in compliance with CRA and funders' requirements
Generate reports and analytics to support planning and workforce insights
Serve as subject matter expert for all payroll-related inquiries, ensuring swift and thoughtful resolution for all employees
About You:
3-5 years of experience in HR (preferably as a HR Generalist) and payroll operations, ideally in a fast-paced environment
3-5 years of HRIS administration (BambooHR preferred)
Strong knowledge of employment legislation (especially Ontario ESA) and labour relations
Experience in a unionized environment is an advantage
A natural problem solver who is detail-oriented, highly organized, discreet and comfortable handling confidential information
Excellent communication skills with a passion for driving great employee experience
