Human Resources Generalist:

Our client is searching for a dynamic Human Resources Generalist with the ability to build a role in an operational environment. A successful candidate will support the execution of HR initiatives and practices that support the assigned client groups and the overall organization. This role is based in Victoria BC, and reports directly to the HR Team Lead.

Your success is defined by your ability to:

  • Provide support and guidance in the areas of policy and procedures, employee relations and labour relations
  • Provide confidential, professional and balanced support to operational leaders when addressing sensitive employee issues
  • Participate in conversations and localized programs to understand and improve employee engagement, employee retention and reduce turnover
  • Proactively work with managers and supervisors to identify potential issues
  • Be the first point of contact in HR for managers, supervisors and employees for the assigned client groups
  • Lead organizational change initiatives for assigned client groups
  • Advise managers on interpretation and administration of HR policies, programs and procedures
  • Investigate employee concerns and ensure follow through from beginning to end
  • Provide benefits guidance, HRIS support, reporting and auditing
  • Participate in community outreach programs to help with branding us as an employer of choice in the various Vancouver Island demographics and communities
Your strengths include:
  • Post secondary degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or related field of study
  • 5+ years experience in a Human Resources Generalist capacity, with demonstrated experience in Employee Relations
  • CPHR designation
  • Knowledge and experience of current Labour Laws, Human Rights and Employment Standards
  • Experience working with labour relations issues will be an asset
  • High attention to detail and a proven track record of project execution
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure and adapt to evolving priorities and timelines
  • Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism
  • Strong project management mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to influence change within the organization by building and leveraging professional working relationships
