BATL is a proud founding member of the International Axe Throwing Federation (IATF). batlgrounds.com Who We\xe2\x80\x99re Looking For At BATL Axe Throwing, we\xe2\x80\x99re seeking a qualified Human Resources Director to lead our Human Resources team in removing barriers to success for all BATL employees in our venues, Customer Service, and Venue Support Team (head office). Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee all elements of the BATL employee experience while providing empathetic leadership. You will collaborate with the leadership team to understand and strategize company goals related to HR, talent, and culture. Your Key Responsibilities Will Include (directly and/or in a supervisory capacity): Total Rewards Management

  • Approving biweekly payroll and alternating biweekly tips payments
  • Recommending compensation and competitive compensation research
  • Administering Health Insurance Benefits and performing periodic cost analysis
TalentAcquisition
  • Preparing and updating role descriptions in collaboration with hiring managers
  • Managing recruitment budgets
  • Maintaining an engaging presence on LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, and other TA media
  • Negotiating compensation with potential candidates
Training & Talent Development
  • On-boarding and Orientation
  • Supporting people managers to source directed training programs as needed
  • Supporting people managers in the Performance Management process
Human Resources Administration and Employee Records Keeping
  • Continuing to build our newly launched HRIS system (UKG)
  • Maintaining accurate employment records and personal data with a confidential mindset
  • Crafting employment contracts
Employer Regulatory Affairs
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in Ontario and the seven American states in which we operate (North Carolina, Illinois, Michigan, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona)
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to meet internal objectives and external regulatory requirements
Employee Relations and Engagement
  • Responding to employee enquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Fostering an engaging and productive employee experience
  • Conducting and evaluating surveys and reports with the goal of improving the employee experience
HR Team Management
  • Managing HR workflow including productivity and mentorship of two direct reports
Forecasting and managing annual HR budget
  • Facilitating professional development, training, and certifications for HR team
Confidential Reporting Process and Issue Escalations
  • Resolving conflict and determining disciplinary action as required
  • Investigating and resolving reports of disputes among staff, guests, and league members professionally and confidentially, adhering to all regional regulatory requirements
Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging
  • Sourcing and implementing on-going training in anti-racism, anti-bias, and DIBs
  • Ensuring all processes and procedures adhere to BATL\xe2\x80\x99s firm commitment to DIBs
Your Skills And Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of HR experience including 5 years of HR team leadership experience
  • Thorough understanding of Ontario employment-related laws and regulations
  • Strong EQ and empathetic interpersonal skills to build employee rapport and trust
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks when appropriate
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, adaptable to change and rapid growth
  • Confident self-starter, eager to grow your career, showing initiative and delivering results independently while reporting to the CEO and providing status updates
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on clarity, respect, and motivation
  • Experience building, working with, and training employees on UKG or similar HRIS
  • Experience working with Google Suite including Gmail, Sheets, Docs; experience with Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint is an asset
