Job Description


We are looking for a Business Analyst for a 6-month contract position in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Hybrid schedule, at least 3 days in the office. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.

Role Description:
This opportunity will appeal to an individual who enjoys working as an individual and in a team environment. Someone who has the ability and the experience of working with their PM to gain senior leader\'s buy-in, and who demonstrates effective strategic and critical thinking, problem-solving and facilitation skills, is adaptable and able effectively complete deliverables in a timely fashion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project team member, including Organizational Effectiveness subject matter experts, to leverage the OE Framework and analyze trade-offs between usability and business needs.
  • Liaise between the project teams, tax, legal teams, and operations teams to ensure requirements are captured and shared across enabling functions.
  • Review, consolidate and create current state assessment visuals based on gathered list of services and programs.
  • Cumulate and analyze data from business owners to conceptualize workflows across borders with highlighted tax and legal risks.
  • Elicit additional requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, service delivery descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and workflow analysis.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: workflows, service delivery models and operating models.
  • Deliver and/or participate in governance & control education and awareness of how to operate in a matrix organization.
  • Successfully engage, drive, and facilitate multiple initiatives and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Manage and execute on required stakeholder and client engagement across project deliverables to support project plan and scope outline.
  • Collaborate with project team members to progress the project forward as per project plan and scope outline.
  • Manage and participate in Transition to base business scope and activities deemed to be out of scope for the project team.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • IIBA Certified Business Analysis (IIBA-CBAP).
  • PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI_PBA).
  • 6-12+ years of demonstrated working experience as a Business Analyst role (or similar).
  • 6 years of Oil and Gas experience.
  • 5 years of experience with organizational effectiveness.
  • Proven experience with use case and \'day in the life\' scenario development.
  • Merger, acquisition, & divesture experience is an asset.
  • Directly related experience in a document control/management environment.
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking skills.
  • Well-developed problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional system (big picture) thinking capabilities.
  • Strong industry knowledge and ability to understand the business architecture being analyzed.
  • Well-established solution knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to aid in facilitation & negotiation.
  • Ability to influence others without authority and maintain a supportive team environment.
