We are currently looking for a
Housing Support Specialist
to join our team on a
1-year full time contract basis
, with a possibility for extension.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Housing Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting women as they strive for independence and break free from abuse. This position focuses solely on supporting referral and walk in clients in navigating the housing system and completing housing applications, in collaboration with the Safe Centre team.
Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 annually
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Paid Time off: 15 vacation days and 12 sick/personal days, annually.

Key Responsibilities
Assist women in understanding the cycle of abuse and support them in advocating for themselves, empowering them to voice their needs and concerns.
Conduct intake and discharge interviews with clients, ensuring all necessary information is accurately documented to successfully fulfill housing application requirements.
Provide case management support to clients using a systems approach.
Provide guidance and assistance in completing housing applications and navigating the housing system, ensuring they have safe and stable housing options.
Handle emergency and crisis situations with prompt and decisive action, ensuring the safety of all involved.
Maintain meticulous records of referrals and client information, ensuring confidentiality and security.
Manage client case files and data entry into the program database (WISH) accurately and efficiently.
Fulfill any other duties or responsibilities as assigned or needed.
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Social Work, or a related human services field.
2-3 years of case management experience working closely with survivors of gender-based violence through a trauma informed and empathetic lens.
Strong understanding of rules, regulations and processes within the housing navigation system.
Sound knowledge of issues pertaining to woman abuse, post-traumatic stress, and the social services network within the Region of Peel
An awareness of the safety needs of the organization and confidentiality of the clients and partner agencies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software.
Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and client service skills.
Detail oriented, organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision.
Skilled at working collaboratively as part of a larger team including partner agencies.
Experience in serving a diverse community with a proficiency in a second language relevant to the demographics of Peel Region is an asset (e.g., Punjabi, Urdu, Arabic, Tagalog, etc.)
