Job Description

The Housing Coordinator has a dedicated role of supporting the Housing Manager daily, ensuring the smooth working of the housing department. This position will be assisting with new construction projects, renovation, leasing, maintaining band houses and resolving any issues regarding it. This role requires collaboration with other departments and Yekooche First Nation Community members. Line of Authority: The Housing and Public Works Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations. Staff Supervised:

This position does supervise staff on an ongoing basis and support will be requested for special projects or initiatives in the YFN.

Work Schedule:

Up to 70 hours per pay period (Bi-weekly) with additional hours or schedule adjustments as required. Hours of work are 8:30am to 4:30 pm with 1-hour mandatory unpaid lunch break. However, your work hours may vary and become irregular due to travel meetings. On weekends, there might be events requiring your assistance. In such cases, your direct supervisor will provide at least 24 hours' notice. The normal work location will be in the Yekooche IR 3 located in the Yekooche community.

Remuneration: Permanent, full-time, wage based. Overtime is not applicable for salaried employees. Employee Benefits, annual leave, and training in accordance with YFN policies. Spending Authority:

This position will oversee and administer some elements of Yekooche First Nation and the Department budget.

Duties and Responsibilities: -



Support Housing Manager and housing department Responsible for accepting members rental applications Liaising with Public Works staff, submitting repair requests and providing documented follow up to ensure completion Identifies training need through collaboration with the Housing Manager and community feed back Assists Housing Manager in developing and delivering training programs for the community members and staff on Housing Policies, Procedures, and Best Finances Responsible for the regular maintenance checks and providing assistance required. Support the operations of the housing department Work side by side with Emergency Management Officer Recommend yearly Rent rates in accordance with the market. Resolve complains related to housing issues Assisting with Policy development and implementation. Assisting with new housing projects and renovations. Maintaining and assuring Health and Safety protocols. Responsible for annual housing inspections. Maintaining and organizing the housing records. Ability to build a level of trust and confidence with the community members as they will be working closely. Organizing department meetings.

Qualifications:



Completion of Grade 12 Emergency Support responders, certificates are an asset. Minimum of 2 years of relevant work in the field. Business Administration Certificate or related College Diploma. Valid Class 5 BC Driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Specialized Knowledge:

Proficient in operating and maintaining small landscaping equipment and lawnmowers. Understanding of sewer and water systems. Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment. Work independently with minimal supervision. Strong communication skills. Familiarity with expense reporting and budgeting. Experience in policy development and implementation. In-depth knowledge of maintenance plans, asset management, and local regulations. Strong organizational, budgeting, and project management skills. Proficiency in asset management software and MS Office suite. Effective communication and leadership abilities. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently.

Conditions of Employment:



Obtain, as per job requirement, and maintain a clear Criminal Record check clearance. Obtain and maintain positive evaluations and assessments and to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of their position as set out in their job description and employment agreement. Must adhere the conditions set out in the Yekooche Employment Agreement. Must be willing to live on Yekooche Reserve. Ability to maintain positive working relationships with Yekooche Staff Team. Must have a valid bank account and Social Insurance Number. Must have a valid Class 5 BC driver's license.

Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
