Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Person to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience in facilities maintenance, ensuring that all equipment and systems operate efficiently. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently while also supervising maintenance tasks as needed.

MAIN DUTIES



1. Assist with preventative maintenance and complete report work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc., to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard.

2. Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.

3. Assist in checking electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, television sets, lighting systems, and make minor repairs and/or replacement.

4. Assist in checking and making routine repairs and assist on major repairs of all hotel equipment including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, pool equipment, HVAC, hand and power tools and general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipelines, toilets and sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment.

5. Maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting, gardening).

6. Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors windows and counters. Paint and finish furniture and fixtures if needed.

7. Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.

8. Operation of heavy machinery.

9. Dispose of garbage.

10. Carry out maintenance duties allocated daily in accordance with departmental requirements contributing to the smooth running of departments and achieving guest satisfaction.

11. Assist with the testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting etc. on a routine basis.

12. Liaise closely with the direct supervisor regarding completion of work to minimize on "down" rooms and contribute to the overall profitability of the property.

13. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

14. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



1. Climbing, reaching, standing, walking and routinely lifting 25 lbs to 50 lbs.

2. Must be able to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act upon each accordingly. Be skilled in several areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.

3. Must be able to receive instructions and communicate progress of work assignments.

4. Must have the ability to communicate in English.

5. Always maintain a professional appearance and manner.

GENERAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES



1. Greet or acknowledge all guests employing the Ten and Five Rule.

2. To provide exceptional customer service to all internal and external clients.

3. Take ownership for the solution of issues, hazards, or deficiencies that you encounter during your duties. This could include but not limited to utilizing service recovery techniques to address a guest issue, tidying up a spill in the corridor, reporting damage in a room, etc.

4. Be decisive and take action that you feel aligns with our Organizational Mindsets.

5. Be a team player and provide help where and when it is needed. We do not prescribe to the "that is not my job" attitude.

6. To attend meetings as requested and to recognize the importance of contributing new ideas, competing viewpoints, and initiative to the overall success of the operation.

16. To adhere to all matters relating to hygiene, health, safety, and emergency procedures.

17. To comply with WHMIS regulations and all Health and Safety policies and procedures.

18. To keep your work area clean and tidy.

19. To ensure the use of personal protective equipment as appropriate.

20. To contribute to the security of the building, company assets and guest/co-worker safety with full adherence to security procedures with proper handling of keys/cash as appropriate.
