Position Summary:



The Homes Coordinator is a member of the community Leadership Team. The Homes Coordinator directly supervises the House/Night leaders and ensures the integration of the Identity and Mission of L'Arche, the Servant Leadership Model, policies and government standards in the homes. The Homes Coordinator directly encourages, trains and supports House/Night leaders to create homes that embrace the core values of L'Arche, thus resulting in high quality care for individuals with developmental disabilities and a thriving learning environment for Assistants.




Major Duties and Responsibilities:




Ensures House/Night Leaders create a welcoming, clean, comfortable, safe, trusting, and unified home environment. Ensures House/Night Leaders adhere to all policies, guidelines and regulations, holding them to the highest standards and practice of support. Nurtures the gifts and growth of all House/Night Leaders and core members in the homes through processes including annual reviews, circles of learning, roles and goals meetings, and individual planning, and other means as required. Teaches and inspires House/Night Leaders and assistants to involve core members in ways that encourage independence, responsibility and empowerment. Provides stability in the homes during times of change and transition. Supervises House/Night Leaders in their scheduling of their teams and Casual Support, ensuring House/Night Leaders coordinate scheduling between houses for best use of resources. Coordinates with House/Night Leaders to set schedules, training times, and support resources as necessary. Ensures support Assistants, volunteers, visitors have a meaningful engagement with the community and home life. Supports House/Night Leaders to ensure L'Arche Antigonish and house traditions are maintained and practiced in a meaningful and inclusive way. This includes celebrations, prayer and reflections. Is an effective team member, and collaborates with other Homes Coordinators in Canada to share best practices Supports L'Arche throughout the federation. Is knowledgeable on initiatives at the regional, national and international levels and shares this knowledge with the homes. Seeks out opportunities for personal growth and models life sharing and the values of L'Arche for others. Effectively communicate and work with families, guardians and professionals. Liaisons with relevant Department of Community Services (Care Coordinator) and other government agencies to ensure standards and the needs of core members are met.



Qualifications, Competencies, and Position Requirements:




Previous L'Arche experience (assistant, board member, volunteer, etc.) or experience supporting people with disabilities. Fluent in spoken and written English and able to communicate effectively with people who use language differently and people for whom English is not their first language. Clear police check including vulnerable sector screening. Demonstrated ability to receive and give growth-oriented feedback. Ability to be flexible and manage the stress of multi-faceted responsibilities and areas of oversight. Can remain calm, and focused in times of uncertainty and crisis, and can give clear directions. Able to work collaboratively and to model and promote conflict resolution. Good administrative skills with competencies in record keeping, time management, daily, weekly, and long term planning with the ability to follow through on commitments in a timely fashion. Ability to problem solve, assist in reaching solutions with and across teams and structures of authority. Valid driver's license acceptable to L'Arche Antigonish Insurer. Ability to learn new software and use technology proficiently. Previous experience using Therap, Kronos, and UKG an asset. Ability to plan and lead individual and team meetings. Experience of supervising a team. Ability to manage change both in the day-to-day and long term. Ability to effectively delegate and support House/Night Leaders to delegate. Previous management experience considered an asset.

Working Conditions and Physical environment:




Primarily working in the office of L'Arche Antigonish and from time to time in our Homes and Programs. From time-to time, the Homes Coordinator will be required to be away to attend community, regional or national events and/or trainings which may include work on evenings and weekends. Is expected to participate in meals in the home and regularly attend team meetings of each home. Part of our on-call rotation. Psychological Stressors include multitasking, working in a fast-paced environment, dealing with multiple and conflicting priorities, and providing growth oriented feedback.
