Job Description

GFL Environmental is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grinder Operator for a full-time, permanent position at our Northlands Landfill facility. The successful candidate will be a safety-oriented professional with extensive knowledge of industrial grinders and proficiency in operating other heavy equipment. This is a high-priority role for a key member of our landfill operations team, reporting directly to the Landfill Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely and efficiently operate and maintain high-speed and slow-speed industrial grinders.*
Perform daily inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.*
Proficiently operate 20 to 35-tonne excavators and medium-to-large front-end loaders to manage and feed material.*
Maintain accurate logs and documentation related to equipment operation and maintenance.*
Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures, including the consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as a respirator, both inside and outside of equipment cabs.*
Work a flexible schedule that includes both daytime and periodic evening shifts.*

Qualifications:

Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of high-speed and slow-speed grinders is required.*
Demonstrated proficiency operating 20 to 35-tonne excavators and large loaders.*
Strong mechanical aptitude is essential;*
Commitment to and understanding of workplace safety regulations.*
Must be willing and able to wear a respirator for extended periods as required.*
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.*
