POSITION SUMMARY





Reporting to the Director of Health and Wellness, the Program Lead is responsible program facilitation and delivery of Indigenous health-based initiatives. This includes development and support of special programs, scheduling speaker and workshops, delivering and managing special events and includes budget oversight, contractor and employee oversight, with reporting responsibilities.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE




Degree in public or health administration, local government, business administration, social work, or related field Experience in program management or delivery (preferably in health, wellness, or community-based services) Minimum 1 year of experience facilitating/coordinating Indigenous Health workshops Relevant administration experience, preferably in a local government or First Nation setting Experience working with Indigenous communities/people considered an asset Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered

Criminal Record Check with results acceptable to WFN Valid class 5 driver's license Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES




Lead the design and implementation of new health initiatives, including needs assessments, program planning, and the creation of culturally safe frameworks. Develop program policies, tools, and resources that support Indigenous approaches to health and wellness. Monitors, tracks, purchases, and reports on programming and facilitator budgets in accordance with ISC funding requirements Oversees daily operations of funded Health & Wellness programs, ensuring alignment with First Nations healing principles and organizational objectives Provides oversight and administrative support to program facilitators and assistants Creation and delivery indigenous health programing, including facilitation of workshops as required. Event creation, scheduling, registration, facility bookings, and holistic practitioner research and contracting Excellent ability to analyze problems, identify key factors and underlying causes and generate solutions Oversee program delivery and operations including the establishment of strategic and operational work plans, program goals, & objectives within the Health Team. Liaises with community agencies and partners and represents WFN at various meetings, events and activities where required with external partners. Including Okanagan Nation (ONA), Interior Health, First Nation Health Authority (FNHA), etc. Manages participant registration, attendance tracking, outcome evaluations, and mandatory ISC reporting Maintains accurate records, schedules, and communications related to program activities, including Program supply order, manage, accept, and storage Ensures all programs are delivered in accordance with ISC terms, capturing necessary documentation and expenditure details Promotes program sustainability and transparency through better oversight Strengthens Indigenous-led health initiatives through culturally safe and organized programming Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Westbank First Nation policies, standards, and procedures, and assigned by the Director of Health and Wellness

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES




Requires deep understanding of Indigenous health principles and the ability to integrate traditional knowledge with modern health delivery models, a unique competency that adds specialized value beyond technical administration. Ability to prioritize tasks in fast-paced environments Project management skills, including budgetary and reporting responsibilities Excellent conflict management resolution and problem-solving skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with team members at all levels Superior organizational skills including meticulous attention to detail The ability to consistently conduct oneself with tact and discretion in all matters The ability to identify, maintain and protect the integrity of confidential information Advanced computer software skills including a strong working knowledge of MS Office Products and Canva. Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality in interpersonal interaction Working knowledge of the history of colonization in Canada and its ongoing impact on modern issues affecting Indigenous Peoples Knowledge in communicating with Indigenous Peoples, demonstrating sensitivity and empathy, and awareness of how language choices can influence and impact conversations.
