We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health & Safety Consultant/Working at Heights Trainer to join our team, . The ideal candidate will be required to fulfill the duties outlined below.
The candidate will be required to travel within the Regions of Halton, Peel, Hamilton.
Consulting Duties
Advise clients on compliance with OHSA & regulations, and regulatory bodies
Conduct site safety inspections for low-rise, high-rise construction projects and industrial facilities
Ensure health and safety compliance for constructors, trades, and subcontractors
Conduct health and safety orientation for workers, trades, and subcontractors
Present safety talks with workers on various health and safety topics
Develop and distribute safety memos, when required
Assist clients with coordination and completion of JHSC and WTC meetings
Develop and advise on traffic control plans, site-specific safe work procedures and job hazard analysis for high-risk tasks
Complete full investigations and follow up implementation of corrective actions for various types of incidents (near misses, medical injuries, critical injuries)
Liaison with MLITSD on behalf of clients
Review H&S documents for completion and accuracy (SWPs, JHAs, daily task hazard analysis, hot work permits)
Training Duties
Facilitate in-person training courses to audiences across different industries while applying adult learning principles and best practices.
Deliver CPO-Approved training programs, such as Working at Heights.
Develop, coordinate, and conduct training presentations related to H&S compliance (e.g. spill responses, fire safety training, workplace violence and harassment, H&S programs)
Leverage any industry knowledge and practical experience to accurately answer participant questions with sensitivity, professionalism, and inclusivity in mind.
Ensure administrative requirements for your delivered training courses are completed accurately and provide to the Training Coordinator.
Qualifications
Certified to train Working at Heights
(CPO-Approved Program)
Minimum of 4 years experience
in safety training or a related field, preferably within the construction or manufacturing industries.
Minimum of 1 year
experience in consulting role or related discipline.
Strong knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act*, Construction Regulation 213/91, R.R.O. 1990; Reg. 851: Industrial Establishments and other relevant safety standards.
Certificate/Diploma in occupational health and safety
or related fields is an asset.
NCSO, CRSP, CRST
designation(s) is an asset.
The successful applicant must have a
valid Ontario G license
or equivalent, with a clean driving record.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to stand, walk, climb ladders, sit, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. You must be comfortable spending long periods in a construction environment of standing and walking through active job sites (5+ hours per day).
