Health and Safety AdvisorLocation: Vancouver, Lower Mainland, British ColumbiaOur client is a reputable construction firm based in Vancouver, specializing in concrete construction projects. They are committed to prioritizing safety in every aspect of their work. To uphold their safety standards and promote a culture of well-being, they are looking for a dedicated Health and Safety Advisor to join their team.:As the Health and Safety Advisor, your primary role will be to ensure that our workplace remains safe and compliant with all health and safety regulations. You will work closely with employees, management, and project teams to minimize risks, provide safety guidance, and enhance safety practices across our projects. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to:Key Responsibilities:Safety Management:
Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with local and provincial regulations.Conduct regular safety audits and inspections at job sites, equipment, and facilities to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards.Collaborate with management to establish safety goals and objectives, track progress, and report on safety performance.Investigate workplace incidents and near-misses, providing thorough incident reports and recommendations for preventive actions.Promote a culture of safety awareness and responsibility among employees and subcontractors.Training and Education:
Provide training and education to employees on safety best practices, procedures, and safe equipment operation.Facilitate safety meetings and toolbox talks to address specific safety issues and communicate updates.Emergency Response:
Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring proper procedures are in place for various types of emergencies.
Conduct drills and exercises to test the readiness of the response plans.Compliance:
Stay updated on local, provincial, and federal health and safety regulations, and ensure company compliance.Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training sessions, safety audits, and corrective actions.Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in occupational health and safety or a related field.
  • Certification in safety management or a related discipline is an asset.
  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Advisor in the construction industry, particularly in concrete construction.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, best practices, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication, training, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and safety management software.
  • Familiarity with local safety regulations in Vancouver and British Columbia.
