As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will play an essential role in managing health and safety on our large-scale institutional construction site in Halifax. You will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of prevention programs, supporting workers, and ensuring compliance with current health and safety requirements.

What does a day as a Health and safety Advisor with us look like?
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and control all activities related to accident and occupational injury prevention on the site
• Maintain constant communication with the client and meet their prevention requirements
• Ensure the submission of required documentation to the client within the given deadlines
• Ensure the implementation of the general contractor's prevention program on the site
• Participate in daily operations planning to integrate prevention measures
• Conduct health and safety orientations for new workers
• Actively participate in health and safety committees and other meetings
• Conduct daily inspections to identify and correct potential risks
• Write safety task analyses based on upcoming work
• Support the site team in effectively managing critical risk operations to ensure a safe work environment
• Apply health and safety standards and requirements in the construction field
• Identify hazards related to workstations, processes, and equipment to develop safe work procedures, if necessary
• Implement adapted tools to raise awareness, train, involve, and advise on the importance of prevention
• Intervene when an accident risk arises
• Investigate after an accident or incident
What you will need:
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role in construction site prevention
• In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety standards and regulations
• Experience in formwork (an asset)
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills
• Ability to analyze risks and propose concrete solutions
• Bilingual (French and English)
