Position Summary

The Pastry Chef will be responsible for producing high-quality Jamaican pastries and patties according to traditional standards and company specifications. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated professional experience in preparing Jamaican patties from scratch--including dough production, filling preparation, and baking--as this is a mandatory requirement for the role.

Responsibilities

Prepare and bake a wide range of pastries, cakes, tarts, and confections according to established recipes and quality standards. Decorate cakes and desserts with creative cake decorating techniques to enhance visual appeal. Ensure all food handling procedures comply with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area. Assist with food preparation tasks, including measuring ingredients, mixing, and portioning. Package baked goods professionally for display or take-out orders, ensuring freshness and presentation quality. Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new dessert ideas that align with menu concepts. Maintain inventory levels of baking supplies and ingredients, notifying management of shortages or needs. Uphold high standards of customer service by providing friendly and efficient assistance to guests when needed.

Skills

Proven experience in cake decorating, baking, and pastry arts within a restaurant or bakery environment. Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, food safety protocols, and kitchen equipment operation. Excellent skills in food handling, packaging, and presentation to ensure quality standards are met. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen setting while maintaining attention to detail. Creative flair for designing visually appealing desserts that delight customers. Good communication skills and teamwork-oriented attitude to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Experience in the food industry with a focus on baking or pastry arts is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level candidates willing to learn.

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $17.27-$24.34 per hour
