Leonardo Canada - Electronics (LCE) is seeking a strategic and dynamic Head of Operations to join our Management Team. Reporting directly to the President, this senior leadership role is central to driving both our daily operations and long-term business success.

As Head of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in aligning operational strategies with overall corporate goals, ensuring the seamless delivery of shared services and systems that support all functions across the organization. Acting with delegated authority from the President, you will provide strong operational oversight, lead cross-functional initiatives, and champion excellence in service delivery throughout the company.

The Head of Operations pillar responsibilities include:



1. Strategic Planning & Execution

Collaborates with senior leadership to develop and implement operational strategies that support the company's overall vision and growth objectives. Translates strategic plans into actionable goals and ensures departments meet KPIs and performance targets. Manages compliance with Leonardo Directives, Financial Policies, Statutory requirements, Internal & External Audit as well as any local laws & regulations.

2. Process Optimization

Identifies inefficiencies in business processes, workflows, and resource allocation across engineering, product, IT, and other teams. Implements tools, automation, and best practices to streamline operations and increase productivity. Ownership of Canadian Controlled Goods Programme, Contract Security Programme, Security Orders and Operating Procedures

3. Cross-Functional Coordination

Acts as a bridge between different departments (e.g., engineering, product, sales, customer support, HR, finance). Ensures alignment and communication between teams, especially for project delivery and services. Management of the physical plant environment, building services & related relationships (landlord, sub-contractors, suppliers, etc.) Enables the DevOps / ProdOps environments are streamlined, efficient and suitable for the LCE product lines.

4. Performance Monitoring

Tracks operational metrics (e.g., software deployment frequency, labour utilization, IT support response times). Implements reporting systems and dashboards to monitor team and project performance in real-time.

5. Risk Management & Compliance

Identifies operational risks and works on mitigation strategies. Ensures the organization adheres to relevant legal, security, health and safety and regulatory requirements, particularly regarding data protection and software compliance. Oversees budgeting, capacity planning, vendor management, and staffing to ensure that resources are allocated effectively. Collaborates with HR and department heads on workforce planning and talent acquisition for operational needs

6. Customer & Delivery Focus

Ensures the smooth delivery of software products or services to customers. Works closely with product and support teams to maintain high customer satisfaction and service quality. Oversight of purchasing, procurement and supply chain processes. Oversight of Company IT systems and IT Security Management department. Oversight of administrative support, Quality Assurance and office management services.

7. Corporate Reporting and Directives

Management of LCE's relationship with external Legal Counsel, Canadian Corporate and Tax Law, Ontario and Canada Employment Law, Global Mobility, and Immigration Law. Responsible for drafting, communicating and articulating Company directives internally to all employees, driving engagement and alignment with business values, objectives, and goals. Chairs the operations council providing effective and efficient coordination of business governance activities.

The Head of Operations will have direct reports and be accountable for those functions:



Accountability for all LCE I.T. and security systems, with direct oversight of planning, budgeting, development, deployment, upgrades and day-to-day I.T. service delivery to employees by the I.T. and Security Manager (Direct Report) and I.T. staff. Accountability for, and ownership of LCE's Quality Assurance programme. This will include internal audits by the QA Manager (direct report) and external certification audits (Bsi ISO 9001:2015) to ensure QA Management's independence from project and engineering functions.

The Head of Operations will be required to obtain and maintain current Key Senior Official, Company Security Officer, and Designated Official credentials, as well as any required Canadian/ NATO Security Clearances.



Security Clearance

Given the nature of our software development work, it is a condition of employment that the successful candidate receive the required security clearances. Successful candidates must be eligible for Controlled Goods Regulations Program (CGRP) government clearances and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) . In addition, candidates must be able to obtain a Canadian Industrial Security Clearance to NATO SECRET level.

Must be either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada; Must have lived in Canada continuously for the past 10 years; Must not have a criminal record.
