PLAE Head Coach Description:
You are a passionate, experienced advocate of physical activity and sport - certified and trained to facilitate and oversee your specific program and classes. Coaches at PLAE have great communication, teaching, and leadership skills, plus a strong sense of responsibility and professionalism. You possess experience in your field of expertise and enthusiasm that will create a positive learning experience for everyone involved.
A positive attitude, fun, flexibility and a strong work ethic are essential. All Coaches will possess a valid driver's license, transportation to and from the facilities, you must be physically capable of carrying moderately heavy activity equipment, and be comfortable working outside in varying weather conditions.
PLAE Coach responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Running programs in Saint John, Rothesay, or Quispamsis
Getting excited, creative and enthusiastic about your program and classes!
Following or providing a written plan for the week: emphasizing safety, fun, & skills progression. This will include written plans detailing a breakdown of each class. Coaches who have a high enough certification level may have the ability to create their own class plans!* Running a safe, organized, fun, & educational activity - teaches skills, understanding, and values.
Being a role model for other staff - consistently demonstrating exemplary and appropriate professional behavior.
Caring for and keeping inventory of ALL equipment.
Preparing the learning environment and meeting the participants as they enter the space.
Updating the documents and other forms.
Communicating with the director or regional director of any issues with participants.
Communicating any issues with parents to the director or regional director.
Overseeing all attendance and skill progression.
Communicating all concerns with directors.
First Aid and CPR certification, continual growth through the NCCP program
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's of Education Degree (or in progress) or equivalent
Early Childhood Certification (or in progress) or equivalent
Previous sport or youth coaching certifications (NCCP or other)
Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
First Aid
Essential Skills
Passionate about physical activity and working with youth
Previous experience working with young children (16 months - 12 years)
General knowledge of coaching/teaching techniques and fostering a warm learning environment
Reliable transportation
Technology use
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Pay: $18.73-$34.81 per hour
