We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our team in a small sushi bar with a an open layout with counter-service. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in food preparation, cooking, and food handling, with a strong background in Japanese cuisine and sushi artistry. This role involves supervising kitchen operations, managing food safety standards, and leading a team to deliver exceptional dining experiences. The Sushi Chef will play a vital role in maintaining the restaurant's reputation for quality and authenticity while fostering a collaborative and efficient kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare and assemble sushi dishes with precision, creativity, and adherence to quality standards.
Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and timely service during shifts.
Supervise and manage kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and leadership to maintain high performance.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures at all times.
Collaborate with restaurant management to develop new menu items and improve existing offerings.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and overall kitchen area.
Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as needed to prevent shortages.
Serve dishes to guests with professionalism and hospitality, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry, preferably in a restaurant setting.
Supervising experience or team management skills are highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards.
Excellent leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and manage a diverse team.
