About the Role
We are looking to hire an electrical designer into the hardware team; the primary role of the team is to design and test the core of next generation of robots and supporting the current product offering We need a detailed-oriented candidate to help us design our new robots and take them to the next level of reliability and quality. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of all disciplines within electrical design space, able to bridge between the electronics and mechanical design teams. You have experience with circuit design with an emphasis on power electronics and power distribution, you also know wiring, connectors and harness design. As a part of the design team you will help contribute to the design, prototyping of electrical systems, and troubleshooting hardware issues in the field. The design challenges will range from high level system architecture, power distribution, embedded and analog design to detailed schematic and PCB design, debugging and testing on board and system level. The circuits will vary from safety boards to control units and motor control units.

How you will make a difference


  • Apply critical thinking skills to review designs and anticipate future problems during deployment.
  • Design various jigs and controls to isolate and solve reported field failures
  • Develop the modular designs for the electrical subsystems that control our robots; contributing to systems engineering to ensure traceability from requirement to verification results.
  • Collaborate with our mechanical team on Wiring Harness Design to minimize EMI and ensure proper mounting, shielding, and accessibility of electronic circuits
  • Participate in PCB and layout design of analog, digital and power circuit: control board, sensor interface, power distribution, safety and motor control units.

Key skills and experience

  • B.Sc. in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 - 7 years of hardware design experience in relevant field (Robotics, Aerospace, Automotive, etc)
  • A driven individual who is passionate about robotics, and a self-starter
  • Experience with the complete hardware development cycle from concept, through development, verification and new product introduction
  • Proficient with standard test instrumentation equipment such as DMM, Scope, Power Supply, Function Generator
  • Competence in managing Engineering Bill of Materials and the Change Management processes
  • Knowledge of Dfx Analysis including a strong emphasis on DFMEA methodologies
  • Familiar with working with Service and Sustaining teams to incorporating their input into any design changes

Nice to have

  • Experience with Mentor Graphics suite of EDA tools
  • Experience working with robots or other complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Understanding of functional safety requirements
