We currently have career opportunities for Staff or Senior Consultant level resources in our IT Advisory services group specializing in Guidewire implementations. Candidates will work at our new state-of-the-art onshore Service Delivery Centre in Halifax, NS, working remotely with clients supporting them undergo large-scale technology enabled transformations. There may be some onsite opportunities as well.
The opportunity

Our IT Advisory practice is looking for student graduates to fill various roles in our Guidewire practice. Candidates will be trained in competencies of Functional, Configuration, Integration, or Testing. They may also be cross-trained in competencies. When applying, please indicate which work stream your skillset matches. Additional mentoring and coaching to ensure candidates build strong budding careers will be provided.
Your key responsibilities
  • Support a Guidewire work stream through all phases of the technology enablement life cycle; from requirements and design to implementation and deployment.
  • Work regularly, with clear communication, with onsite and offshore teams, as well as client resources, to deliver work products effectively.
  • Support work in an agile sprint by sprint basis, doing effort estimates, and producing work stream deliverables.
  • Provision testing efforts including execution as well as resolution of defects.
  • Participate in engagement management, execution, reporting, and client relationship building.
  • Contribute actively to internal non-client initiatives aimed at continuous improvement of the EY Guidewire practice and its capabilities.
  • Role Specific Responsibilities
  • Functional Business Analyst
  • Collaborate with client business users to collect information, perform analysis, and gather/define business requirements in the form of story cards.
  • Work with business subject matter experts and cater to their learning of the product. Facilitate and guide them to become better owners of new transformation solutions.
  • Liaise with development team to transfer knowledge and ensure story cards are implemented as per requirements acceptable by business.
  • Configuration/Integration Consultant
  • Work with clients directly to understand business needs, provide solutions, and assist in design/integration decisions.
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document high quality software components.
  • Liaise with any offshore teams providing specific detailed instructions, enabling them to routinely deliver high quality work products.
  • Participate in integration and deployment of software applications including support for operational readiness.
  • Follow established development processes and corporate quality standards to provide technical production support across Guidewire suite applications.
  • QA Testing Consultant
  • Plan and execute testing cycles for Guidewire application implementations.
  • Assist Testing Leads in strategy design and test case creation for various stages of transformation projects (Development, SIT, UAT).
  • Contributing to defect management, triaging, test coverage analysis, reporting, and regression test suite creation.
  • Working with Functional and Configuration/Integration counterparts to effectively deliver quality work products to our clients.
  • Follow established development processes and corporate quality standards to provide technical production support across Guidewire suite applications.

  • Available to travel within and outside of Canada and work in excess of standard hours when necessary.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20-50%.

To qualify for the role, you must have
  • An undergraduate degree in Business Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, and other related majors.
  • Experience in the analysis, design, development and application deployment of large scale enterprise application systems, would be an asset.
  • Experience in a work stream competency, BA, Configuration, Integration, or Testing, is an asset
  • Knowledge of agile development methodology.
  • Strong competency in basic operational efficiency tools: MS Outlook and MS Office (particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote).
  • Configuration/Integration only: knowledge of object oriented programming, software version control, Java, J2EE, XML, relational databases, and SQL is an asset.
  • Relevant insurance industry experience is an asset.
