MAKING AN IMPACT
Reporting to the Manager, Leadership Giving Donor Communications, the Grant Writer, Leadership Giving is responsible for the research, writing and submission of customized grant proposals to non-government agencies and foundations. This role will work collaboratively across the team and organization to understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of each department, and draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization. This position is ideal for an experienced writer and researcher with demonstrated experience in the not-for-profit environment.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Research and write grant applications for non-government agencies and foundations, with the possibility of federal and provincial government programs.
Gather the information and content necessary to support grant applications by conducting research via external sources (e.g., online medical journals) and working with internal CCS teams.
Maintain a grant tracking database and submit reports related to grant opportunities.
Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to develop, submit and manage applications for grants that align with institutional initiatives and areas of key interest.
Set target dates for information sourcing, writing, review, approval and submission to ensure grant deadlines are met.
Manage a list of works cited in grant applications through the reference management software EndNote.
Ensure grant applications and supporting written documents are error-free and adhere to guidelines.
Research and write other solicitation and stewardship materials on an as-needed basis, including gift renewal letters, appreciation letters, donor email templates, etc.
Stay up to date on key CCS resources to ensure written documents are on brand and align with CCS priorities.
Support the development of impact report writing.
Build key internal relationships across CCS to gather timely information on the current and potential impact of donor support, content verification and approvals.
Monitor external markets and continually assess cross-industry best practice, new business models and techniques to enhance current grant opportunities and drive growth.
Support positive relationships with external stakeholders.
Work in compliance with the provisions of The Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, and comply with the Society's Health & Safety Policy.

QUALIFICATIONS
Undergraduate degree (master's degree preferred).
3-5+ years of relevant working experience, preferably at a non-profit organization or academic institution with an understanding of these organizational contexts.
Experience in developing and submitting grant applications.
Knowledge of provincial and federal government grants and foundation funding opportunities.
Exceptional research, editing and writing skills.
Innovative and creative thinker with ability to identify what will engage and motivate supporters.
Ability to develop and maintain trusted, effective working relationships with colleagues in a national organization with a matrix-management culture.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively to drive performance and results.
Exceptional organizational, project management and analytical skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
A team player who values an environment of open communication and collaboration.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Proficiency in Salesforce an asset.
Proficiency in EndNote an asset.
Bilingualism (French/English) is highly preferred, with French being an asset due to the organization's nationwide operations and the need for effective communication across various regions.
