Nanaimo Foodshare is a non-profit that works to improve food security in Nanaimo. We are seeking an experienced grant writer to work with our team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience writing grants from a variety of funders including Foundations and Government agencies.
Responsibilities:
-Become familiar with the granting cycle and potential funding opportunities
-Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and ensure timely submission of applications
-Write and submit grant proposals to secure funding for various projects and programs
-Collaborate with program managers and staff to gather necessary information for grant applications including budgets and financial reports for grant proposals
-Track and report on the progress of funded projects to grantors
-Stay updated on current trends and best practices in grant writing
-Meet deadlines responsibly
Qualifications:
-Lives in Nanaimo area
-Comfortable working on site
-Effective communicator with other team members
-Superior writing, grammatical, and narrative skills
-Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
-Research skills to identify potential funding sources
-Minimum 3 years proven experience in grant writing in a non-profit setting is ideal
-Knowledge of local non-profits is an asset
-Existing familiarity with funding sources is an asset.
