Be part of the leading edge of cancer treatment -- Join our Clinical Trials Unit! The Grant Administrator provides a wide range of financial duties (reporting, analysis and interpretation), and is responsible for administrative support functions as well as assisting with the financial management of clinical trial studies in the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU). The incumbent will perform diverse duties requiring independent judgment, prioritization, confidentiality, initiative and organizational skills. They will work closely with the CTU Financial Analysts & CTU study staff and will report to the CTU Manager.

Description:

Duties/tasks include: Establish and maintain study account documentation/files for research grant and clinical trial accounts and preparing account consolidations. Create a visit register to track study visits for each project. Enter expenditure/revenue information for research purposes into appropriate spreadsheets/databases. Reconcile payments and process deposits. Initiate documentation and invoicing of sponsors as per the study contract & budget. Communicate with sponsors to resolve discrepancies and follow up on outstanding receivables. Coordinate with Study staff to ensure protocol amendments are reviewed. Process reimbursements as indicated in the contracts for patient out-of-pocket expenses. Process accounts payable transactions from internal and external vendors. Process payment of CTU-related invoices for operating account. Process staff expense and travel claims and other general finance tasks. Complete account closures, and journal vouchers, and assist with clearing over-expenditures. Assist PIs, CRCs, and CRNs, with the interpretation of study budgets and expenses. Respond to sponsor inquiries regarding trial budgets and/or invoicing and payment requisitions. Initiate dialogue with sponsors regarding patient travel reimbursements for unique situations. Help prepare and disseminate regular financial activity reports trusting account holders (i.e. bi-monthly, quarterly). Assist AHS SFA/Finance & CTU budget staff with the finalization of budget negotiations, and other tasks as needed. Complete finance functions in, or provide subject matter expertise for various AHS/CTU initiatives (e.g. Connect care or OnCore systems).

Required Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in accounting and/or business administration with finance experience (or equivalent). Solid knowledge of general financial and administrative policies. At least 3 years of related experience. Preference given to those with research administration/clinical trials experience. Additional Required Qualifications:

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, spreadsheet design and relational databases. Demonstrated ability to monitor financial transactions for multiple projects or accounts and assist with interpretation of financial information for analysis and forecasting purposes. Excellent written and oral communication skills, and keen attention to detail. Ability to work as part of a cohesive team. Ability to organize, prioritize and balance workload, and work with a high degree of independence. Flexible and willing to learn new skills, systems and processes. Experience with clinical trial procedures, finance, or budget negotiation is an asset. Knowledge of medical tests and procedures. Experience working with a pharmaceutical sponsor, clinical research organizations or in an academic oncology medical center. Extensive knowledge of Excel and Access preferred. Connect Care/EPIC experience is an asset.
