River Valley School is seeking a dedicated, adaptable and experienced

Grade One Teacher

to join our close-knit and dynamic team for a

one year maternity leave coverage

. The successful candidate will be someone who embraces the unique talents of every child, creates a safe, nurturing and innovative learning environment, and strives to make a difference in each child's life.

Responsibilities:

Working under the direction and supervision of the Head of School and Academic Leadership Team, Elementary Teachers will:

Promote, achieve, and maintain a high standard of instruction Assist students in acquiring ownership for their learning Assist with extracurricular activities and supervision during the school day Employ effective classroom management procedures to maximize student learning Be familiar with those sections of the School Act, the regulations of Alberta Education, and regulations of the Board that pertain to educator responsibilities

Qualifications:

Bachelor's of Education Interim or Permanent Alberta Teacher Certification Minimum 5 years teaching experience
To assist in the realization of these expectations a teacher shall:

Meet or exceed Alberta Education curriculum Follow appropriate timetables and instructional plans Maintain appropriate order and classroom management
