Golfplay is Ontario's premier indoor golf and entertainment venue - great golf, great food, and great people. Our kitchen team is a big part of the guest experience. We serve a focused, quality menu that needs to be consistent, timely, and plated to Golfplay standards every time.
We're looking for a Line Cook who takes pride in their work, communicates well on the line, and helps us deliver an awesome experience for every guest.
Position Summary
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating menu items according to Golfplay recipes and standards. This role supports the Kitchen Manager in maintaining a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen, restocking product, and helping with dish/closing duties as required. This is a hands-on role in a busy, open-concept environment - teamwork and communication are key.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items (appetizers, flatbreads, handhelds, sides, sauces/dressings) according to Golfplay recipes and specs.
Portion, wash, chop, and prep ingredients for service and events.
Plate items consistently so they look like the Golfplay menu photo/standard.
Service Execution
Work efficiently during busy periods (leagues, events, weekends).
Communicate with the Kitchen Manager, servers, and front-of-house so orders go out together and on time.
Re-fire or correct items when needed.
Food Safety & Cleanliness
Follow all Golfplay food safety, temperature, and rotation standards (FIFO, labeling, dating).
Keep line, smallwares, and prep areas clean and sanitized throughout shift.
Assist with dishwashing and end-of-shift cleaning as needed.
Stocking & Organization
Restock line, fridges, freezers, and dry storage during and after shifts.
Notify Kitchen Manager of low or missing items.
Put away deliveries and keep BOH organized.
Team & Standards
Uphold Golfplay's quality and service standards at all times.
Bring a positive, professional attitude to every shift.
Support kitchen teammates and help create a safe, respectful work environment.
Qualifications
Previous line cook or kitchen experience preferred (we will train the right person).
Good knife skills and knowledge of basic cooking methods an asset.
Ability to follow recipes and plating standards.
Strong communication skills - willing to talk on the line.
Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
Food Handler certification an asset.
Passion for food, sports, and a fun environment is a bonus.
Availability
Evenings and weekends are required (league nights, events, and busy season).
Part-time and full-time hours may be available depending on season.
