Golf Group & Revenue Manager

The Golf Group & Revenue Manager will be responsible for revenue managing the tee sheet to maximize green fee availability, opportunities, occupancy and rate. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for selling golf tee times, group business, Golfing programs (activations & special events) and memberships. Finally, the position will be our systems expert for the golf genius tournament software, ensuring it is in proper working order and act as a liaison with the company. The successful candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills and is comfortable making quick and creative decisions, and exceeding guest expectations while demonstrating a high level of responsibility for their own actions.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Director of Golf, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offer professional, engaging and friendly service
  • Ensure the smooth operation, maintenance and profitability of the tee sheet through Yield management processes. Daily review of the tee sheet identifying opportunities, issues and forecasted revenues along with solutions
  • Complete business analytics and reports for the tee sheet and green fee consumption on a regular basis and as required by the Director of Golf for review, discussion and presentation.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure the smooth contracting and planning of group and tour business and management of the tee sheet. Particularly working closely with hotel sales managers, conference service managers, Food and Beverage sales managers and hotel revenue managers.
  • When the Golf Event Coordinator position begins, train on the current group system and bring them up to speed on current bookings and status. Train on how to use Golf Genius. Be available to the event coordinator for questions or clarification on any booked groups or the golf genius program.
  • Meet with group meeting planners to show the golf facility and opportunities (including tournaments, weddings, lesson programs, etc.).
  • Promote and sell customized golf programs to conference groups
  • Sell golf retail to all groups with the assistance of the golf operations manager as required.
  • Sell F&B options to all golf groups based on direction and costing from the F&B team.
  • Contact all definite hotel groups at BSH, Rimrock and CLL. Maintain communication with other group hotels in Banff (Caribou properties, etc.) for opportunities with golf events.
  • Contact Human Resource departments\xe2\x80\x99 at all larger businesses in Banff to promote and sell local programs and memberships.
  • Continually prospect for new groups and opportunities to utilize the golf facility for business.
  • Contact planners immediately following events for feedback, future bookings and expressions of thank-you.
  • Oversee and update all golf promotion communication and marketing, including on GolfEMS, branded web sites, e-blasts, etc.
  • Build and manage all promo-code business.
  • Be the contact person and systems expert for the Golf Genius.
  • Oversee and ensure a professional presentation of the facility is created for any tradeshows or resort selling functions held. When requested, attend the events to represent the golf division.
  • Continually seek ways to create new opportunities and events to drive further revenue at the golf facility (ie Cart tours, Rocky Mountain range experience, etc.)
  • Liaise with the resort marketing and PR teams on our golf advertisements and promotions, web page updates and social media programs. Be the golf social media manager ensuring a professional branded program all year round.
  • Attend and participate in Resort RevMax meetings.
  • Attend meetings as requested.
  • Stay current on industry/competitive trends and making recommendations for improvement.
  • As part of the golf management team, provide leadership and guidance within the golf operation as identified and required and actively participate in the creation and completion of goals.
  • Support a strong culture in the golf division through participation in staff activities, monthly communication meetings and encouraging feedback from all colleagues.
  • Have complete understanding of and adhere to all company policies and rules including those relating to Fire, Hygiene and Safety.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:
  • Business Degree or Diploma in a recognized Professional Golf Management program is an asset.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in Fairmont or the golf business.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Licenses and updated drivers abstract
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within a large golf operation
  • Able to work flexible hours (early morning, evening and occasional split shifts)
  • Proficient in computer Programs (Microsoft Word and Excel, Reservation and POS systems). Previous use of the Golf Concept software program is an asset.
  • Proven capability and experience with Financial and Human Resource Management
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with a high attention to detail required
  • Ability to deal with high-pressure situations in a fast-paced environment
  • Solutions-orientated, strong interpersonal skills and problem solving techniques
  • Highly motivated, career-minded team player who is guest driven with a passion to continually exceed expectations and anticipate needs
  • Proactive with a demonstrated eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple functions
  • Previous work experience at Fairmont is an asset.
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Able to lift 60 lbs (heavy golf bag, retail boxes) and carry for up to 100 yards
  • Repetitive tasks and movements
