IUPAT District Council 17 is seeking a

Full-Time Glazing Organizing Representative

based in

Calgary, Alberta

, to lead unionization efforts within the glazing industry. This critical role will focus on empowering non-union glaziers, promoting safe and fair work environments, and expanding Union representation in Alberta's construction sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Build relationships with non-union glaziers and educate them on the benefits of Union membership. Plan and execute strategic organizing campaigns focused specifically on the glazing trade. Conduct research on glazing contractors and projects to identify organizing opportunities. Attend industry events and job sites to recruit members and increase awareness of IUPAT. Maintain accurate and timely records of organizing efforts using tools like Google Sheets. Travel regularly to glazing worksites across the Calgary region. Work collaboratively with the IUPAT team to develop and adjust strategies based on industry needs.
What We're Looking For:

Glazing industry experience is required.

Previous union or construction experience is considered a strong asset. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially in one-on-one and group settings. Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills. Familiarity with Alberta labor laws and the construction industry. Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Comfortable using technology and software tools to manage outreach activities.
