As a GIS Data Developer, you will be responsible for the development of new, and the maintenance of existing, data processes that lie at the heart of our organization. This position will support both geospatial delivery as well tabular update processes. You will be joining geoLOGIC\xe2\x80\x99s Data Services team whose remit is to provide our clients with the highest quality energy data in the industry.


Working closely with internal subject matter experts, the Data Services team expands and enhances geoLOGIC\xe2\x80\x99s data offerings. The team also handles day-to-day operational support to ensure that data continues to flow through our systems and provides tier-three support for clients. This leads to a fast-paced environment with lots of variety.


The Data Services team is responsible for:

• 
  Development and maintenance of geoLOGIC\xe2\x80\x99s client-facing Oracle Database \xe2\x80\x93 gDC
• Development of our quality assurance system for all our internal data processes
  • Using standard and custom ETL frameworks
  • Oracle, SQL Server, ArcGIS, FME, PL/SQL, C# and Python among other technologies
• Automated processes to consume data from external sources
• Performing data analysis for other departments and clients as required
• Feeding data to multiple first-party commercial software products
• Consolidation of data processes to gain efficiencies

You have been involved with the full software development cycle, have a good understanding of data processes without being constrained to out-of-the box solutions, and are comfortable not just creating, but also maintaining existing systems for spatial and non-spatial data. Experience of doing so with Oracle and PL/SQL would be advantageous, while experience with ArcGIS and FME is important.


As a member of the team, you will be expected to work with senior developers to assist in projects and be an active participant in their implementation, and transition to taking on more responsibility within projects as time progresses.

Relationships Reporting to the Data Services Manager, this position involves close connections within a team of diverse talents, ranging from GIS developer to Sr Data Developers to .NET developers to DBA.
Outside of the team, there will interactions with data subject matter experts to help guide data offerings, as well as members of our Product Development, Data Acquisition and Data Production teams.


How will you spend your day?

• Assist in the development of critical projects both in terms of operational and product roadmap requirements
• Work with new and existing spatial and non-spatial data to analyze and explain the meaning of data to other members and departments
• Assist in the ETL processes within distributed Oracle, SQL Server, and ArcGIS environments
• Install, configure, and monitor GIS data loads and scheduled jobs
• Create, modify, document, and maintain custom scripts and routines for GIS data processes
• Troubleshoot operational issues both in spatial and non-spatial data processes
• Collaborate with team members to provide data solutions which align with our customers\xe2\x80\x99 needs

• A combination of 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a team environment of
  • ETL and data design
  • ESRI desktop tools like ArcMap
  • FME and ArcPy (2.x)
• Strong PL/SQL and experience working with C# and/or Python with an emphasis on data acquisition, integration, and transformation
• ArcGIS server set up, administration and monitoring
• Experienced in loading spatial layers to Oracle SDE and other data repositories
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Experience of the full software development lifecycle
• Knowledge of Canadian Oil and Gas data
• Superior time management, inter-personal skills and a desire to collaborate
• The ability to work under pressure to resolve live issues with systems in production
• Passion to learn new technologies and new data

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary in GIS and/or Computer Science with work experience
• 5+ years of commercial experience

Assets:
The following technical skills would be advantageous

• Experience developing and maintaining Server Object Extensions (SOE)
• Experience with upgrading ArcGIS servers to required versions based on ESRI\'s recommendations
• Exposure to ESRI Portal, ArcGIS Pro and Map Services

The following technical certifications would be advantageous

• PPDM CPDA
