Overview:



HI Canada is seeking an enthusiastic and results-oriented Sales Manager to develop and drive group and travel trade sales across the hostel network. This role will focus on building relationships with key stakeholders, identifying revenue opportunities within established revenue objectives and pricing frameworks, and working collaboratively with the Reservations Team and hostel managers to optimize revenue. The Sales Manager will be pivotal in promoting HI Canada's offerings to schools, sports teams, travel operators, and other group markets.

Compensation: $65,000 + Commissions

What you will be doing



Sales Strategy and Business Development



Develop and implement a group and travel trade sales strategy aligned with HI Canada's revenue objectives. Build partnerships with travel agents, tour operators, educational institutions, and other relevant sectors. Identify new group market opportunities and develop tailored packages to meet client needs. Represent HI Canada at trade shows, networking events, and industry conferences. Conduct regular competitor analysis to benchmark pricing and offerings.

Client Relationship Management



Serve as the primary contact for group and travel trade clients, ensuring exceptional service from initial inquiry to booking confirmation within established booking, pricing, and approval processes. Develop and maintain strong client relationships to secure repeat business and referrals. Prepare and deliver sales pitches and proposals that reflect HI Canada's unique value proposition and approved offerings.

Collaboration with Reservations and Hostel Managers



Work closely with the Reservations Team to streamline group bookings and ensure a seamless guest experience. Contribute to group/travel trade sales forecasts to support hostel-level planning and revenue optimization.

Revenue Optimization



Monitor group sales performance against KPIs and report results and trends to the Director of Operations. Provide market feedback and client insights hostel-level pricing strategies and promotional opportunities. Promote HI Canada's mission-aligned offerings to group and travel trade partners, emphasizing our commitment to affordable, inclusive travel experiences and meaningful cultural exchange

Administration and Reporting



Maintain detailed records of all client interactions, contracts, and feedback using CRM tools. Provide monthly reports on sales activity, revenue generation, and market trends. Stay updated on changes within the travel and tourism industry that may impact group sales.

What we look for



Must haves:

Based in British Columbia or Alberta Minimum 3-5 years of sales experience in travel, tourism, or hospitality Proven experience in group and/or travel trade sales Knowledge of the Canadian travel industry and regional travel trends Valid Class 5 Driver's License (or equivalent) Willingness to travel regionally and nationally (some evening/weekend work) Strong verbal and written communication skills English fluency required; French an asset

Nice to haves:



Proficient in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Ability to work independently without direct reports Demonstrated alignment with HI Canada's mission of cultural exchange and accessible travel Familiarity with the hostel or budget travel sector is an asset

Your Location




This position is classified as Remote.


Your work will take place primarily remotely from your home address. Occasional travel within Canada for meetings or to visit our hostels may be required. We will do our best to define windows when in-person meetings and gatherings will occur and give you plenty of notice so you can make it work with your personal and family life.


The Association has defined core collaboration hours for all employees working remotely; the hours in a workday when meetings are likely to be scheduled and guest and vendor contact is heaviest.


Collaboration hours take place between 10:00am and 2:00pm Pacific Time Monday to Friday to account for time zones.
