In this role, you will be a part of the Earth and Environment Group in St. John\'s, NL

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Developing and maintaining business relationships with clients.
  • Preparing proposals for geotechnical and materials testing services for a variety of civil engineering projects that include cost estimates and timelines.
  • Planning and carrying out assignments requiring familiarity with a broad range of geotechnical engineering and materials testing.
  • Co-ordinating with clients, contractors, consultants, suppliers, municipal staff, and other stakeholders and third parties to accomplish required project objectives.
  • Directing field activities, including investigation, monitoring and testing services on construction projects.
  • Co-ordinating materials laboratory testing requirements for various projects with laboratory manager.
  • Maintaining monthly records per Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories (CCIL) requirements as CCIL Supervising Professional (SP) in maintaining laboratory CCIL certification.
  • Participating in environmental project development (Phase I ESA, Phase II ESA, Environmental Remediation Program).
  • Reviewing and interpreting monitoring information from geotechnical instrumentation programs.
  • Conducting detailed design and analysis for a variety of geotechnical projects.
  • Coordinating and participating in field investigations and QA/QC inspections.
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports.
  • Working with senior staff when dealing with difficult, complex and unusual matters and decisions.
  • Performing independent studies, analyses, interpretations and conclusions.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing junior staff.
  • Supporting the development of the Earth & Environmental group by developing relationships with existing and future client contacts, attending meetings, and supporting Business Development initiatives.
What your experience looks like
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Geotechnical, Civil or Geological Engineering with a post-graduate degree preferred, with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Member in good standing with Professional Engineers and Geoscientist of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL), or ability to register with PEGNL (P.Eng. designation is required).
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in Geotechnical and/or Civil engineering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including multi-tasking and prioritizing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with standard construction procedures and methodologies.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Valid driver\'s license and vehicle.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for short duration projects.
