Pinchin’s Dartmouth office is currently recruiting for an Intermediate Geotechnical Project Manager to support our Geotechnical Engineering Group in in the Atlantic Region.

A Day in the life of a Geotechnical Project Manager at Pinchin:


  • Perform Geotechnical engineering evaluations (e.g. Soil and bedrock engineering design, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, excavation, dewatering and shoring.)
  • Scheduling assessments and meetings with clients/contractors
  • Assigning work to field staff as appropriate depending on workloads and in conjunction with the other Senior Managers
  • Preparing contract documents, proposals, and reports
  • Providing clients with advice on appropriate regulations and guidelines
  • Meet with clients to determine project requirements
  • Provide training and mentoring to junior staff and technicians as needed
  • Business development and marketing to new and existing clients


What you bring to the Pinchin team:


  • University degree in Geotechnical, Civil or Geological Engineering or related degree and experience
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in a geotechnical engineering role
  • A Professional Engineering Designation in the Province of Nova Scotia and eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in the remaining Atlantic Provinces
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as geotechnical engineering software (slope stability, seepage, finite element programs, etc.)
  • Able to work closely with our project teams across the company where geotechnical support may be of assistance, such as Environmental Due Diligence and Remediation and Building Sciences
  • Prior experience in consulting engineering or construction is considered an asset
  • The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, clients and managers
  • Excellent technical writing skills for preparing geotechnical engineering reports and letters for clientele
  • Valid driver’s license insurance & personal vehicle is required (work-related travel expenses will be compensated)
