Reporting to the Resource Geologist, the Geological Modeler will play a central role in developing and refining 3D geological models that support resource estimation, mine planning, and exploration targeting at Talisker Resources. Based in our Vancouver office with occasional travel to the Bralorne Mine site, the Geological Modeler will work to ensure that geological interpretations are accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with current exploration and drilling data.
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree in Geology
Experience in geological modeling and resource estimation workflows considered an asset
Proficiency in geological modeling software considered an asset
Strong understanding of structural geology, mineralization systems, and QA/QC practices
Experience working with geoscientific data (drill holes, assays, etc.)
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Collaborative mindset with the ability to share knowledge and mentor team members
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
Responsibilities
Working with the Exploration and Resource Development teams, the Employee shall perform all duties commensurate with the position of a Geological Modeler, which include, but are not limited to the following responsibilities:
(a) Development, management, and refinement of 3D geological models to support exploration targeting, mineral resource estimation and mine planning;
(b) Collaboration with the VP of Resource Development and technical teams to ensure geological interpretations are logical and align with current exploration and drilling data;
(c) Integration and interpretation of geoscientific data (e.g., drill hole, assay, and structural data) to support modeling efforts and exploration strategies;
(d) Contribution to exploration target generation and validation through geological modeling and data analysis;
(e) Support in the development and application of QA/QC protocols for geological data used in modeling and resource estimation;
(f) Knowledge sharing and collaboration with geologists and technical teams, including mentoring and support for skills development related to modeling software and interpretation;
(g) Preparation of professional documentation, reports, and presentations outlining geological models, methodologies, assumptions, and interpretations;
(h) Additional duties as assigned by the Lead Geological Modeler, Vice President of Resource Development, or other technical leadership.
Schedule
This is a full-time position based on a standard work week of Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week. The employee is expected to manage their time effectively and fulfill the responsibilities of the role in a professional and efficient manner. Flexibility in working hours may occasionally be required depending on operational needs. The company may request excess hours or overtime averaging in accordance with company policies and applicable labor standards.
The position is based primarily from the Vancouver, BC office, with some work from home flexibility. For at least the first 90 days of training, candidates will be expected to be in the office full time. There will also be occasional travel to the Bralorne Mine site in Bralorne, British Columbia, as required.
