AGAT Laboratories is a full-service laboratory with locations across Canada. We are the most diversified laboratory in Canada and our scientists are highly-skilled and specialized in the fields of biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, geology, engineering and other specialty services. With a broad range of staff experience and state-of-the-art instrumentation, we provide cross-analytical solutions for the Environmental, Energy, Mining, Transportation, Industrial, Agri-food and Life Sciences sectors.

We currently have an exciting opening as an Organic Geochemist at our laboratory facility in Calgary AB.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and interpretation for petroleum geochemical and isotopic studies
  • Responsible for reviewing data from multiple methods, comparing different datasets, analyzing the reasoning factors in data appearances and presentation, and making scientific based judgement calls
  • Participating in client calls and projects as required
  • Training and supporting team members as required
  • Work directly with the analytical labs analyzing the samples
  • Attend operational, lab, and safety meetings, be able to actively participate in lab brainstorming and troubleshoot sessions and provide scientific input with experience based support
  • Be able to travel up to 5% of the time, with potential site visits
Qualifications:
  • Degree in geochemistry or related discipline with at least 3-5 years of experience is required
  • Experience in petroleum geochemistry data interpretation is required
  • Experience in working in geochemistry laboratories including instrumentations such as GC-FID and GC-IRMS
  • Experience in Pirouette Chemometrics Modeling Software considered a strong asset
  • Prior knowledge and experience in Canadian and/or International Oilfields
  • Being fast-paced in commercial or government laboratory setting
  • Proficiency in computer software including MS Office (i.e. Excel) and statistical analysis is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong in demonstrating and applying interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high level of success
