We currently have an opening for a full-time permanent Manager Flight Standards. The Manager Flight Standards reports to the Director, Flight Operations and provides leadership, professional knowledge and expertise in the development, administration and support of the Flight Standards Program for Conair Operations.


In this role your duties will include the following:




Confirmation that Conair flight operations and training are being conducted in accordance with Transport Canada regulations and standards as well as published company standards; Ensuring that all instructors are authorized to conduct training in accordance with the Flight Operations Training Manual Ensure all company sponsored Approved Check Pilot delegations are maintained and updated as required by Transport Canada. Monitor and provide feedback for instructor competency during training; Ensuring continual improvement through the periodic review of training and standards documentation and processes; Co-ordination with the Chief Pilot and Manager, Flight Training and Simulation in regulatory compliance of training programs; Ensure that required technical examinations verify both candidate proficiency and training program adequacy; Review and assist in the management of pilot training records; Oversight and management of publications within the Good Reader application; Oversight of Standard Operating Procedures for all aircraft types; Oversight of Line Training and Line Assessments during the Operating Season; Oversight of the EFB program, ensuring publications are current and ensuring flight planning and weight and balance software is current and effective; Safety investigations support as required; Ensuring that all Flight Operations personnel have safety as their primary objective by adhering to the Conair safety policy and utilizing the appropriate safety reporting program in order to identify and communicate all known hazards and risks to the organization; Other tasks assigned by the Director of Flight Operations; and In his/her absence, all responsibilities for duties shall be delegated to the other qualified manager.

We are looking for someone with:




Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and administer a Flight Standards program; Above average supervisory and people skills; Demonstrated ability to gain employee respect and influence change; Knowledge of Transport Canada Regulations, FAA and EASA regulations; Detail oriented with a focus on results; Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously; Must be able to travel within Canada & Internationally (Significant travel is an ongoing requirement of this position); Demonstrated ability to act with professionalism particularly in the face of opposition; Ability to clearly and effectively express information and ideas in English, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated management experience;

Training/Education:




Minimum 10 years' experience in a flight operations standards role providing check pilot oversight; Hold an Airline Pilot Transport License, and possess a current medical; Experience auditing in an aviation operational environment; Experience creating and administering standards training programs; 20 years' experience in an aviation operational environment
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship or permanent residency)
