Our independent business is a cultural icon in Metchosin and the surrounding areas, where lineups are often long but people don\xe2\x80\x99t mind \xe2\x80\x93 it\xe2\x80\x99s worth the wait! A friendly, happy, helpful staff look after the loyal local customer base, as well as visitors from home and abroad. The Caf\xc3\xa9 consists of 3 departments, the restaurant, My-Chosen Pizza and the Sugar Shack Bakery and ice cream shop. We\xe2\x80\x99ll be looking to you to ensure the team in all three areas provide excellence in customer service and food quality, promote a positive attitude on the team and utilize teamwork to achieve business results. The General Manager leads the management team and is the liaison between the front and back of house, the owners, and assumes all positions of the restaurant when required. This position requires food and beverage plus management experience. The GM leads the service team, assists with hiring staff and all paperwork associated, assists with purchasing stock, manages inventory, and plays an important role with labour costs. This position ensures the team is trained on proper food, beverage, and customer service. This role has the overall accountability of the success of the restaurant and staff. You\xe2\x80\x99ll work with the management team to plan and execute strategies to improve customer service and increase sales, while controlling operational costs. You will challenge and inspire the entire team to meet and exceed goals and maintain the high standard that has made My Chosen Caf\xc3\xa9 a popular destination for the past 35 years. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Coach and support department managers to maintain a smooth flow of operations, overseeing all 3 business units (My-Chosen Caf\xc3\xa9, The Sugar Shack, and My-Chosen Pizza) - Work with the CFO and analyze the financial statements to achieve financial objectives - Collaborate with Head Chef to manage labour and food cost, and update menus as needed - Over see all maintenance of d\xc3\xa9cor and equipment - Leads, challenges, and inspires the team to achieve a high level of performance - Works with department managers to recruit and on-board new employees - Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work - Ensures optimal customer service and preserves and fosters customer relationships - Educates and trains employees on new products, services, and initiatives - Develops and maintains relationships with sales reps and service/product providers KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: - college diploma or university degree in business management, hospitality, or HR - several years of industry experience; this experience may replace the requirement of some formal educations - demonstrated business acumen - exceptional HR skills: ability to build positive employee relationships - outstanding customer service skills - excellent leadership, entrepreneurial and communication skills - experience in human resource management - financial planning and budgeting - ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a challenging and fast paced environment If you\xe2\x80\x99re looking for your next great opportunity and want to make an impact in a long-standing company, we\xe2\x80\x99d love to hear from you.
