General Manager
Location: Vancouver
Reports to: EVP of Operations

Global Responsibilities
? Form part of the Global Management Team (GMT) and be a key stakeholder in global company
projects
? Work with the GMT on company wide policies, procedures and projects to ensure they are
implemented in line with the global mindset.
? Gain consensus and sign off from the GMT on any high impact policy and procedural changes in
relation to the VFX division.
Line Management Responsibilities
? Local line management for all site specific TV & Film staff including; Head of CG, Head of Production,
HR, TA, and Facilities teams.
? Ensure effective communication to the local HoDs/Team on company updates and changes to
company processes, procedures and policies

Workforce Planning
? Work collaboratively with the Global & Local Resource Managers to staff all Vancouver led shows
? Oversee resource management to ensure forecasted utilisation is achieved and maintained.
? Partner with the Global Resource Manager to build and maximise effective cross site utilisation
? Provide solutions to enable a flexible workforce whilst retaining key talent.
? Monitor office space and building capacity, working with the facilities team to increase capacity when
necessary and manage the hybrid working environment.
Production
? Working collaboratively with the Head of Production and Heads of CG to ensure all shows are setup
correctly and can succeed in the overall workload of the facility.
? Have awareness of all Vancouver show issues, deadlines and deliveries, facilitate solutions to ensure
success deliveries and client satisfaction.
? Work with the local Head of IT and CTO to guarantee the facility has the required technical resources
and equipment to complete shows on time and on budget.
? Arbitrate for show priorities aa they compete locally for human and technical resources .
Finance
? Contribute to fiscal year site budgets with the Financial Controller
? Oversee site budgets and spending and see they are managed appropriately
? Monitor salary benchmarks/budgets across all departments and keep them up to date with market
trends.
? Work with the Finance and HR teams on qualifying labour force so it complies with the BC tax credit
rules.
? Work with the Head of Production to guarantee shows are accountable for their margins and are
supplying the relevant financial reports for Senior Management.
Talent Management/HR
? Overall responsibility for consistent approaches to Talent Management across departments, and that
necessary global approaches are implemented
? Ensure DNEG remains competitive within the marketplace to attract the right talent
? Monitor and support recruitment efforts in hiring and attracting strategic hires to Vancouver
? Succession planning for the local senior management team in conjunction with the GMT.
? Oversee all day to day local HR and Recruitment activities, escalating to the Global Head of
Recruitment and HR where necessary.
? Participate on annual performance reviews for direct reports

Leadership
? Pave the way and take the initiative in anticipating and responding to change.
? Build consensus around our global values for running of the organisation
? Ensure employees are recognized for their contribution to the success of our projects
? Challenge employees to innovative ways to work and identify measurable milestones to keep projects
moving.
? Provide vision and leadership in long range planning and describe a compelling image of what the
future looks like.
Business Travel, Transfers and Secondments
? Sign off on all business travel
? Local sign off on transfer and secondment packages for people going from London to other DNEG
offices

Culture, Values, PR, Comms
? Provide effective communication to the studio on company updates
? Make DNEG Vancouver culturally aligned to the company values and etho and an attractive place to
work
? Partner with HR on ensuring that all employees are operating in line with the company values and
ethos

Other
? Be an ambassador for DNEG by promoting the company as a professional, creative and vibrant
environment to work and do business with locally and internationally.
? Participation in local outreach programs and colleges to ensure a steady flow of graduates and
trainees into the business

Requirements
? 7-10 years plus of experience as a VFX producer, EP or Operations Manager an established
VFX/Animation studio
? Thorough knowledge of production and post-production pipelines in general
? Excellent presentation and strong communication skills
? Experience in managing large scale internal teams in a multicultural environment
? Proficient in project management and workflow tools
? Complex problem solving ability and always solution-oriented
? Strong operational sense and attention to detail
? Comfortable dealing with multiple projects in parallel
? Flexible, responsive and diplomatic
