Job Description

Kingsway Living is looking for a General Manager to oversee our Lewisporte location. You will lead an enthusiastic team and must be dedicated to providing excellence in resident care. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the retirement community with a primary focus on creating an atmosphere where residents can enjoy a lifestyle and quality of life, which exceeds their expectations.You present as polished and professional and demonstrate the essential values of leadership, patience, and compassion. You genuinely want to support our residents as they enjoy our full range of services within our well-equipped community.Responsibilities:

  • Leads an efficient team of managers, and employees.
  • Builds and maintains a strong team: sources, selects and onboards key talent
  • Actively plans for succession.
  • Develops employees: coaches and manages performance.
  • Believes in and fosters a positive work culture.
  • Administer, coordinate, and direct all activities of the residence, including the management of human, (personnel) physical (property) and financial resources ensuring effectiveness of operational activities.
  • Responsible for the well-being of the Residents is of prime importance.
  • Oversee all aspects of operations to ensure programs and the property consistently meet company expectations, including: care, dietary, recreation, maintenance and housekeeping departments.
  • Conduct internal audits and create corrective action plans as needed.
  • Develop, implement, and update operational policies and procedures for all departments of the residence to ensure a high level of care for residents and an effective and satisfying operating environment for employees.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate financial, personnel and resident data. Complete financial analysis and related reports to owners in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the provision of high-quality care and overall experience for residents and resident satisfaction.
  • Holds the team accountable for delivering exceptional resident experience and satisfaction.
  • Attends Resident meetings as requested in order to discuss concerns/complaints and suggestions.
  • Meets with Residents/families to resolve problems/concerns/complaints and reviews suggestions and communicates on a regular basis with the Residents and their families.
  • Develop, maintain, and foster a positive community partnership with health and service providers to promote Kingsway Living as a part of the community.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to the staff for the achievement of the company's objectives.
  • Manage the retirement community in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Partner with Regional Health Authority and Service NL ensuring compliance with all government standards.
  • Promptly attend to any concerns of residents and/or family members in a satisfactory manner ensuring implementation of action plans and avoiding reoccurrences.
  • Be knowledgeable of and practice residence's emergency fire and safety program.
  • Refer and adhere to all policies and procedures as they are in effect.
  • Ability to prepare annual operational and capital budgets and monitor actual performance against them.
  • Meeting occupancy forecasts and driving the sales process within the residence and respond to occupancy challenges
  • Maintain a performance driven team with a focus on: financials, occupancy, customer service, employee engagement and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Actively looks for ways to market and promote the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications or Skills Required:
  • Covid-19 vaccination is mandatory
  • Has a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in the seniors housing, hospitality or general management profession
  • Experience in a progressively responsible role where they have demonstrated leadership, interpersonal skills, marketing, financial planning and effective problem solving
  • Graduate of certificate/diploma or degree in Business, Hospitality or Nursing Initiative, good judgement and leadership abilities, supervisory capabilities.
  • Good communication skills; both oral and written
  • Ability to relate to all levels of staff, the residents, and their families with a high degree of patience, tolerance, and confidentiality.
