At the Apollo Cinema, we bring the classic, independent movie house feel to Kitchener.
In addition to offering the best in contemporary, classic, and genre cinema, The Apollo strives to consistently hold innovative events and provide thought provoking, community minded programming.
We are looking for a new General Manager to help take us in new directions as we continue to serve Downtown Kitchener, and the Tri-Cities as a whole.

General Manager

Your goal in this position is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the cinema, maintaining a high in theatre standard, while having a focus on community outreach and nurturing local partnerships.

Practically speaking, some of the things you will be responsible for include:
  • Oversight of day-to-day operations, staff management, finances, food and beverage ordering, and coordination with film distributors
  • Involvement in event planning initiatives (film festivals, community partnerships etc.)
  • Development and implementation of long-term growth plans
Working @ Apollo Cinema

This is a full-time permanent position, working out of our cinema at the corner of Duke & Ontario. We offer a compensation package, with a base salary of $50,000-55,000/year, commensurate with experience, four weeks vacation annually, health, drug and dental benefits, and best of all, free movies!
We are open 7 days a week. While regular daytime hours apply, flexibility will be necessary based on the needs of the cinema during evenings, weekends & holidays.

Requirements:
  • Strong experience in a customer service role
  • Experience in a management role, overseeing teams of 5-10 people, comfortable with training and delegation
  • Good technical and computer experience
  • Organizational Skills - Familiarity or willingness to work with Google sheets, project management software, office suite
  • Comfortable with outreach for the purpose of sales and developing community relationships
  • Marketing & promotion experience
  • First Aid and Smart Serve certification preferred
  • Previous office administration, payroll, banking, accounting and safe/float management experience
  • Event planning experience
Additional Consideration For:
  • Familiarity with graphic design software like Canva, Adobe Premier, Illustrator, Final Cut or Photoshop
