Canadian Linen & Uniform Service (CLAUS) is looking for a General Manager who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our facility in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding how to manage a Market Center (MC) location (annual revenue of $10M +).
  • Learning about profitability and growth by obtaining new customers and retaining current customer relationships and maintain the market center's total managed volume.
  • Use strategic and leadership skills to facilitate employee selection, development, retention, motivation, and strong customer relationships.
  • Gain knowledge around compliance with contracts and company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in hands-on activities in the market center and in other field locations.
  • Understand the dynamics of a cohesive team between service, sales and production departments to meet organizational goals.
  • Shadow and understand job functions of the Service, Production, Sales, Supply Chain and Finance departments.
  • Understand efficient operations of location in accordance with established business values, policies and processes.
  • Reviews financial statements, reports and other performance data in a dedicated manner. Identifies financial productivity and sales goal achievement to determine areas in need of remediation and improvement.
  • Understands the proper and timely collection of the Company's accounts receivables.
  • Participate in a pervasive sales culture that fosters team selling via Together in Growth (TIG) and Shared Lead programs.
  • 50% of time is spent traveling visiting current customer locations, engaging in new sales opportunities, attending internal leadership meetings, training in other Market Center locations and covering Market Centers in an interim capacity.
  • Participate, promote and sustain a safety culture.
  • Understand merchandise budget and inventory to reduce spend while continually providing adequate supply for the customer base.
  • Learn about labor relations or human resource dynamics in union or non-union environments
  • Review reports and understand process for instituting proper corrective actions for unacceptable trends.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Three to five years of progressive management responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success in operations management in a production facility or manufacturing environment Considerable knowledge of financial reporting, including: profit and loss, sales, and capital expenses.
  • Significant customer interface and service responsibilities.
  • Twelve to eighteen months of business to business sales.
  • Strong analytical and process management skills.
  • Travel within the region is required.
  • Must be relocatable within current region and two other regions
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Successful completion of Criminal Background and Motor Vehicle Record.
