General Maintenance Worker

Job Description

New Leaf is a not-for-profit social service agency located north of Newmarket, providing residential and day supports to adults with developmental disabilities. New Leaf's mission is to provide a safe home to, and enrich the lives of, individuals with development disabilities in a unique sensory and natural environment as we assist individuals to live and work as valued members of society and the community. We endeavor to provide quality supports and services that offer a rural option to individuals with intellectual disability, dual-diagnosis, and/or other complex needs.

We are seeking reliable and experienced

Maintenance worker

to join our team. This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of maintenance and repairs tasks to ensure the proper functioning, safety, and cleanliness of our homes and equipment.

Responsibilities



Perform routine house maintenance duties including painting, drywall repair, carpentry and flooring

Inspect and repair mechanical systems, plumbing, and electrical

Maintain grounds, including lawn maintenance and basic landscaping

Operating farm and lawn equipment

General farming and animal husbandry

Follow safety protocols and guidelines when using equipment

Respond promptly to maintenance request and emergency repairs

Work collaboratively with other maintenance team workers

Communicate effectively with supervisor and colleagues to ensure tasks are completed efficiently

Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines while performing ground maintenance work

Education and Experience



High school diploma or equivalent

Proven experience as a maintenance worker or similar role

Complete and pass "The Operation of Small Drinking Water Systems", Ontario certificate

Competencies, Skills and Abilities



Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems

Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints

Strong problem solving and communication skills

Valid G driver's license

Able to provide a vulnerable person's police check

Work Environment



May involve exposure to hazardous materials and conditions (e.g. heights, noise, dust)

Requires physical activity including walking, standing, bending, lifting, and climbing ladders

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.64-$22.58 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
