Job Title: General Foreperson





Reporting directly to the Operations Superintendent, this position is responsible for leading pit operations and earthworks construction crews for the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project. This role will lead the site-based teams and contractors in ensuring all project safety regulations and health and safety procedures are implemented for execution of work at Eskay Creek. The General Foreperson is responsible for the day-to-day construction activities and the short-term construction work face planning.


Responsibilities (including but not limited to):




Operational Supervision




Supervise open-pit operations including drill and blast. Supervise project construction including road construction, crusher operations, and water management construction. Manage drill and blast directly in the pit and across different project work fronts. Ensure that all BC HSRC codes are being met for all mining work. Review existing operations regularly to reduce costs and improve operational standards.

Leadership & Team Management




Lead a large team of staff and contractors to deliver project construction for Eskay Creek on multiple rotations for both day and night shifts. Provide guidance and oversight to direct reports to support growth and development, driving performance excellence. Resolve conflicts amongst team members; provide regular coaching, feedback, and recognition. Promote team building at all levels, and a respectful cross-cultural work environment.

Safety & Compliance




Instill and drive a strong, positive safety culture in all workers at Eskay Creek. Comply with the requirements of the health and safety guidelines, policies, and rules for the Eskay Creek site. Ensure escalation procedures and incident reporting procedures are implemented and maintained to meet contractual standards. Inform senior management of any safety or environmental issues that arise on site without undue delay.

Project Oversight & Performance




Act as the owner's representative for all facets of project and program execution. Understand overall project performance in line with approved project budget and schedule. Provide inputs to Project Controls for weekly reports covering safety, progress, and operating issues.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement




Work with and communicate closely with project team members, site management, vendors, and outside regulators.

The Ideal Candidate




Education / Qualifications:




High school diploma or equivalent. Post-secondary education or technical training in mining, civil construction, or a related field preferred. BC Mines Supervisor Certificate is required. Shift Boss Certification highly preferred. Formal training or certification in Health and Safety (e.g., First Aid, WHMIS etc). Equipment operator certifications and/or proven competency through field experience. Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.

Experience / Skills




8+ years of progressive experience in open pit mining operations, including drill and blast, and project construction supervision. 5+ years in a leadership or supervisory role managing large teams and contractors. Strong knowledge of mine development, road construction, crusher operations, and water management systems. Demonstrated ability to lead complex project execution aligned with budget, schedule, and safety goals. Proven commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards, with experience enforcing safety programs. Excellent leadership skills, including coaching, conflict resolution, and team development. Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to report effectively to senior management and collaborate with stakeholders. Highly organized and adaptable; capable of managing multiple work fronts and rotational teams. Experience working in remote or fly-in/fly-out project environments. Familiarity with project management tools and reporting systems is an asset.



Work Location & Conditions





This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.



The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.



There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.




Compensation





The expected salary range for this position is CAD $120,000 - $150,000 per year in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines, and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
