General Accountant

(Part-time contract until March 31, 2026

We are searching for a General Accountant who will be responsible for providing accounting support to the Finance and Accounting team at CCS.

What you will be doing:

Retrieve payables and payroll data from the SAGE 300 ERP system to prepare the monthly claim sheets for reporting to the funding authorities, in accordance to the contractual claimable rates. Assist in the monthly bank reconciliation, and alert the Finance Lead of any found discrepancies. Download the AP approved invoices from an external system, and enter the invoice data in the SAGE 300 system, after verifying the information and ensuring GL codes are properly keyed. Assist in the monthly reconciliation processes of petty cash replenishment reports, cash advance reconciliation reports, and the TTC token reconciliation and replenishment reports. Create, reconcile and deactivate users in the AP external system and other online platforms. Assist in entering and coding pre-authorized invoices using various allocation models, and recording bank deposits and withdrawals in SAGE 300. Assist with preparing the monthly payroll accrual schedules. Assist in processing the bi-weekly EFT and cheque runs. Act as backup for the Accounts Payable Coordinator and other Finance team members during their leave times to ensure business continuity and coverage of the day-to-day responsibilities in the Finance Department.

What are we looking for?

A minimum of post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or business studies. Postgraduate certification or designation (completed or in progress) is preferred. Up to 3 years of work experience in the field of Accounting or Finance, preferably in not-for-profit Organizations. Advanced Excel skills is a must-have including pivot tables, formulas, and Look-up functions. Prior experience with SAGE 300 is preferred, and experience with other ERP systems is nice to have. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate financial information to a variety of users, including non-financial stakeholders is required. Fast learner, proactive, with strong attention to detail and the ability to leverage analytical thinking skills to identify discrepancies, and proactively propose resolutions. A valid Social Insurance Number and legally entitled to work in Canada under relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations Successful completion of a background check and/or vulnerable sector check upon hire

Compensation:

$ $29 to $32.28 per hour per hourbased on experience

Location:

55 Town Centre Court, Scarborough, ON, M1P 4X4

Hours:

21 hours per week (Hybrid)
