Most of your role will be working alongside experienced professionals, gaining valuable insights into operational accounting, analysis, and close processes. Operations

  • Prepare supporting documentation for GST and PST filings for operational entities monthly and quarterly.
  • Preparation of monthly prepaid journal entries and reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly deferred contribution journal entries and reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Support operational requests for information, including running reports out of the financial system and providing additional support (e.g. pulling invoice copies) as required.
  • Assist with period end close procedures and preparation of period end reports.
  • Record monthly and quarterly operating journal entries as required.
  • Assist in preparation of documents for annual audit.
Accounts receivable
  • Maintain and record incoming payments via credit card, cheque and EFT.
  • Prepare, enter and send invoices to customers based on agreed upon schedule.
  • Working with the Accounts Receivable Specialist, prepare account statements and contact customers to follow up on outstanding invoices.
  • Reconcile and follow up on irregularities in payments including issuing credits as directed from the operational team, if applicable.

  • Post secondary education with a focus in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to self-review own work.
  • Structured thinker; approaches tasks in a well-thought out, logical manner.
  • Strong analytical skills; able to organize and present data in a clear, concise manner to support review and decision making.
  • Strong time management skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize in a demanding, high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships both within and outside the organization.
  • Computer literate with excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills (particularly Excel).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, Financial Edge) and supplier invoicing portals such as OpenInvoice, Pandell, Cortex Workbench and SAP Ariba would be considered an asset.
