General Accountant

to join our Finance team on a 9-month contract.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the General Accountant will be responsible for Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and other General Accounting functions. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Daily/Weekly Activities:

Update cashbook and post banking transactions in CMS

Run weekly Aging reports and follow up on outstanding receivables

Accurately prepare and submit bi-weekly payroll

Add new employees and update employee changes in Ceridian

Prepare payroll reconciliations

Post journal entries into CMS

Review AP cheque-runs and wire payments for accuracy

Prepare timely and accurate bank and GL account reconciliations

Post AR invoices and customer payments in CMS

Assist the Controller with account analysis and ad-hoc queries

Month-End Activities
Prepare and post month-end journal entries in a timely manner

Reconcile intercompany accounts accurately

Prepare accruals and prepayment schedules and post related entries

Assist the Controller with financial statement preparation and analysis

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience with ERP systems (CMS experience is an asset) Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Self-starter with strong organizational and problem-solving skills

AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (required)
