You will be a member of our gardening/landscaping team that maintains all exterior grounds at Canada Life Assurance. Our expectations of our grounds are to be maintained at a high standard of a corporate head office building. Successful candidate will have practical knowledge of general grounds keeping processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• General maintenance of all exterior plants, shrubs, trees and lawns, consisting of planting, watering, fertilizing, trimming, edging, mowing, sweeping.
• Safe operation of electric or gasoline powered grounds equipment of various types of grounds keeping equipment. Such as a lawn tractor, mower, lawn sweeper, leaf blower, hedge trimmer, power broom, edger, grass trimmer.
• Assists Gardeners with planting of annuals and various other tasks.
• Capable of working alone and performs duties in an ethical and timely manner.
• Maintains shop and work area in a clean and safe condition, which includes daily cleaning of courtyard, entrances and general litter collection of the entire grounds.
• Adheres to health and safety policies, regulations and safe work practices while operating all equipment and hand tools.
• Working outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Enrolled to start or returning to a post secondary educational institution (University or College) upon the completion of his/her assignment.
• Previous gardening/ landscaping experience.
• Familiarity with the safe operation and maintenance of grounds keeping equipment.
• Work requires heavy physical effort including extensive climbing and using heavy materials weighing 31 pounds or more 40% of the time.
Safety wear, personal protection equipment (PPE) and training will be provided.
