Triple S Ranch & Market Garden is a non-profit, social enterprise that contributes to the community and Alberta's agribusiness. Our organization provides a creative solution to support the unique employment needs of adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder [ASD]. It promotes personal growth and success on a safe, eco-friendly, sustainable ranch. You will be part of a team that will grow organic produce for the local community, businesses and markets and work with individuals in our Animal Assisted Wellness Program.
As an Garden and Animal Farm Assistant, you play a critical role in the success of the produce going to market and assisting in the care and nurturing of farm animals. There is a myriad of tasks for a farming operation. These can encompass everything from operating machinery to planting, weeding, watering, maintaining infrastructure, as well as feeding animals and maintaining their living quarters.

Extension of Employment:
Triple S may extend the term of employment based on funding. If funding is available, an extension of the employment term may be considered, based on performance during the initial term.
Working Days and Hours
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (You will start on June 30 because of the July 1 stat)
Avg 10 - 12 hr day
Maximum number of hours per week is 30.
Hourly Rate and Pay Period
Monthly salary based on an average salary of $16.75 per hour

Role and Responsibilities
1. Work as part of the
Gardening Team
on tasks such as: weeding; harvesting; rototilling; fertilizing; ensuring irrigation systems are working correctly; packing and delivering product; tasks required for the general quality care of the vegetables. More specific activities may include:
Construct a variety of frames to support vines and berries
Ensure that operational areas and clean and maintained
Repair farm buildings, fences, irrigation and alternate energy systems
Physically pick crops, weigh vegetables and fruits and load them onto shipment trucks
Work as part of the overall
TSR family
on tasks such as preparing meals, maintaining and caring for property, grounds and equipment.
Participate in on-site skills development and information sessions as scheduled
Learn to understand the individual and model positive conversations, behavior, and employment commitment
2. Work as part of the
Animal Wellness Team
taking care of the smaller animals. More specific activities may include:
Construct animal living quarters
Feed and clean animal living quarters
Daily plan and handling of animals to acclimatize them to human handling.
3. Demonstrate Positivity through Actions and Words
Take responsibility for your actions; Admit when mistakes are made and take actions to correct

QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
MANDATORY
Between 18 and 30 years old
Formal diagnosis or self-diagnosed Autism Spectrum Disorder / Aspergers Syndrome or other neurodiversity.
Canadian citizen or Landed Immigrant
Able to lift 20lbs without assistance
Able to live on site for a minimum of 3 days per week
