The Department of Urology at Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Health (NSH) is seeking a full-time academic with sub-specialty fellowship training in Functional Urology, or related field. This position will hold a Continuing Appointment with Annual Academic Career Development at the appropriate academic rank within the Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University. Compensation is primarily through a fee for service model, with additional remuneration for academic activities. The urologist will work out of two main centres: QE2 Health Sciences Centre in Halifax and the Dartmouth General Hospital (DGH) in the neighboring city of Dartmouth.The QE2 HSC is a tertiary care hospital, located in the city of Halifax (population 500K), and with a catchment area of approximately one million people. This beautiful historic city sits directly on the Atlantic Ocean and acts as one of the busiest marine ports in North America. The hospitals and university are located downtown, surrounded by friendly neighbourhoods and many excellent schools. A new modern hospital complex is being built over the next 5-7years.Candidates must hold an MD plus FRCSC qualification in Urology, or equivalent, and must have completed a fellowship in Functional Urology, or one with similar subspecialty expertise (bladder pain syndrome, neuro-urology, incontinence, prosthetic urology, male LUTS). Experience with minimally invasive prostate surgery for BPH, including laser enucleation would be an asset. General urology care to men and women is also an expectation.
