Job Purpose

PURPOSE: This opening is for a Functional Safety Specialist within the Mechatronics Group. This position will lead the Functional Safety Process for the North American team and work with other Dana Functional Safety Professionals across the globe to provide direction and documentation for embedded systems used within mechatronic developments for light and commercial vehicles.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead Functional Safety efforts of electromechanical system in local development.
• Coordinate Functional Safety processes and systems to be common across Dana global facilities.
• Develop system architectures in relation with the development process and methodology for embedded systems for controllers used within mechatronic developments for on & off-highway vehicles.
• Create documents and other deliverables as required in Functional Safety development.
• Communicate progress, status and key issues with leadership and international teammates.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS

• Four-year degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering (Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree Preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a similar role (functional safety of automotive products).
• Knowledge on functional safety standards like IEC 61508, EN 13849, ISO 26262, ISO 15998, ISO 25119, IEC 62061, and other related standards for hardware and software development like CMMI, INCOSE, \xe2\x80\xa6
• Knowledge on systems engineering and able to use this in a multi-disciplinary approach (electronics, software, mechanical hardware, hydraulics)
• Knowledge on requirements engineering
• Knowledge on SysML (UML) including OCL
• Knowledge on FMEA, problem solving tools, \xe2\x80\xa6
• Has or will develop good project management skills
• Will participate in the continuous improvement of processes and procedures to develop functional safety related products
