As our global footprint continues to grow, UL Solutions is hiring a Senior Functional Safety Engineer with a focus in Automotive Cybersecurity. This position can be located remotely anywhere within the United States or Canada.

What you\'ll learn & achieve:

• Assessment of functional safety documents in order to judge safety compliance, identify issues and the need of further safety analyses. Can make a judgement and constructing logical arguments for safety compliance
• Assessment of cybersecurity documents in order to judge security compliance, identify issues and the need of further analyses. Can make a judgement and constructing logical arguments for security compliance
• Proficient in systems engineering and principles of software development, with a focus on embedded software
• Working with team (both internal and with clients), leading assessment meetings and creating a collaborative environment
• Understand and interpret safety requirements in order to devise an implementation strategy and develops functional design specifications based on those requirements.

What makes you a great fit:

• University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor of Science degree) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related scientific discipline that emphasized hardware/software interdependencies plus 6-8 years of direct experience.
• Good command of English and communication skills.
• Able to prepare, write and review documents with patience and carefulness.
• Automotive product design experience preferred.
• Knowledge of and practical experience with relevant safety regulations, focused on ISO 26262 compliance - IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ISO 13849, ISO 26262, or IEC/EN 62061 a plus. Need to be able to determine whether requirements have been met, including lifecycle management, hardware, and software realization.
• Knowledge of and practical experience with cybersecurity standards, focused on ISO 21434, IEC 63074, and IEC 62443
• Basic knowledge and understanding of functional safety practices and principles of functional safety assurance, hazard & risk assessment.
• Experience with functional safety analysis, such as FMEA, FTA, FMEDAs.
• Ability to lead technical peers to improve consistency and quality.
• Ability to understand and effectively communicate in a technical manner and exercise influence with industry and other stakeholder peers.
• Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally, up to 25%.

• Total Rewards: The salary range for this position is $118,400 - $157,800 and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.

All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for annual bonus compensation. The target for this position is 20% of the base salary offered. Employees are eligible for health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental & financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country, for the relevant position level. We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
